- — Cortana shortly before the Battle of Requiem.[3]
Mark VI MOD is a MJOLNIR armor variant of MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark VI modified by Cortana[1] while stranded on the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn,[3] with a MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor [GEN2] variant produced by ONI's Watershed Division.[2]
GEN1 overview
Design details
Mark VI MOD closely resembles an earlier line of Mark IV armor.[1] The suit's firmware was modified, altering the HUD[3] and its compatibility with Covenant armor plugins.[4] Mark VI MOD also includes a built-in thruster system enabling John-117 to slow his descent while in free fall and propel himself forward in zero gravity.[5]
Development history
Referred to as Mark VI MOD,[6] the Mark VI Mjolnir armor worn by MCPO John-117 following the end of the Human-Covenant War was updated by UNSC AI Cortana[1] during their four years and seven months of cryosleep aboard the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn.[3] Cortana used manufacturing and diagnostic systems to repair and alter John's armor.[7][8]
During her time on the Dawn, Cortana also updated the suit's firmware,[3] and during their time on Requiem, Cortana added a soft patch to the firmware to allow compatibility with Covenant armor plugins.[4]
Usage
Mark VI MOD was exclusively used by John-117, first being used during the Battle of Requiem after he woke up on the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn on July 21, 2557.[3]
This armor was heavily damaged during the Skirmish on Installation 03 on July 26, 2557 [9] and replaced by a similar GEN2 Mjolnir armor variant.[10]
GEN2 overview
Design details
Like most GEN2 MJOLNIR suits in 2558 the GEN2 Mark VI MOD had an extensive built-in thruster system far more advanced than the thrusters built into the GEN1 Mark VI MOD. These allowed for extensive movement options both in zero gravity and in-atmosphere environments.[11]
Development history
Following the Mission to Installation 03, John-117 upgraded to the GEN2 platform.[10][2] This suit is still designated Mark VI MOD.[12] The upgrade was made by ONI's Watershed Division.[13] The GEN2 Mark VI MOD shoulder pads were adapted into and mass-produced for the GEN3 Mark VII armor, being renamed as UA/AHALA. They were designed by Dr. Catherine Halsey and Watershed Division, and manufactured by the Materials Group.[14]
Usage
John-117 used the GEN2 Mark VI MOD extensively from shortly after the Mission to Installation 03 to after the Battle of Genesis.[15] During the Battle of Meridian, the helmet's visor was cracked during a fight between John-117 and Spartan-IV Jameson Locke.[16] Shortly before Operation: WOLFE John-117 had begun wearing a GEN3 version of the Mark VI.[17][18]
