Mark VI BIOS
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
The MJOLNIR Mark VI BIOS is the basic input/output system, standard firmware interface for the MJOLNIR Mark VI armor.[1]
Introduction[edit]
The Mark VI BIOS is firmware, designed to be the first code run by the MJOLNIR Armor when activated. The initial function of the BIOS is to identify, test, and initialize system devices such as the heads-up display, energy shield systems and other hardware.
The BIOS handles most of the MJOLNIR's software functions when initiated. Updates to the BIOS allows newer hardware to be supported and function.
BIOS versions can be viewed though the Mark VI magnification system when no weapon is being held or no zoom supported weapon is being held or at the top of the Heads-up display.
This firmware succeeds the Mark V BIOS for the previous MJOLNIR Mark V armor and is succeeded by the MJOLNIR GEN2 BIOS for the subsequent MJOLNIR [GEN2] armor system.
BIOS versions[edit]
- Mark VI: MARK VI BIOS: S43.3945782.01[2]
John-117 used this BIOS in 2552 during the Recovery of John-117 up till after the Battle of Installation 00.
- John's Upgraded Mark VI: ARMOR BIOS:/ A.DEKKA.0037.FALCON[Note 1]
This BIOS was created by Cortana sometime after the Battle of Installation 00 and was used by John-117 at least until he returned to Earth on July 26, 2558. This also received a soft patch for Covenant technology.
- GEN2 Mark VI: ARMOR BIOS// MJOLNIR / VER_12.22.12 / ID_117[3]
This BIOS has been used by John-117 during the Raid on Argent Moon on October 23rd 2558 as his current BIOS.
Trivia[edit]
- In the Halo 3 Beta to the right of the Mark VI BIOS was a long line of binary code. The code translates to David Candland, Bungie's interface designer.
- In the Halo: Reach Multiplayer Beta, the Mark VI BIOS is used as a placeholder for the Mark V BIOS.
List of appearances[edit]
- Halo 2 (First appearance)
- Halo 3
- Halo 4
- Halo 2: Anniversary
- Halo 5: Guardians
Notes[edit]
- ^ The zoom of this Heads-up display shows the BIOS to be at "BIOS: 3.43", the version used by GEN2. This shouldn't be possible since John-117 hasn't been in contact with the UNSC since 2552.
