Gabriel Garza (Robogabo)

Gabriel "Gabo" Garza, aka Robogabo, is a concept designer who was formerly a Lead Concept Artist at 343 Industries.

Born in Mexico, he now lives in Seattle, Washington with his family. Having worked at a newspaper in the past, Garza has been a professional artist for the last ten years. His years at the newspaper also had a lasting impact on his artwork. Garza's passion for video games attracted him into the concept art community and led him to live and work across the United States working on video games for several game development studios before joining 343 Industries.[1]

Garza contributed significantly to the Halo franchise, serving as a concept artist for both Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians.[2][3] Many of his illustrations are featured in Awakening: The Art of Halo 4 and The Art of Halo 5: Guardians. Additionally, he illustrated the cover of Halo: Evolutions, and created artwork for two of the stories, Icon and Connectivity. He also designed the cover art for the 2010 Tor Books edition of Halo: The Fall of Reach as well as interior artwork.[4] Garza also collaborated with artist Nicolas Bouvier on the cover artwork for Halo: Silentium.[5] Alongside 3D artist Kyle Hefley, Gabriel Garza originated the concept for the Pnap-pattern Goblin, which began as a collaborative pitch prior to the start of Halo 5: Guardians production.[6]

After the release of Halo 5: Guardians, Garza left 343 Industries and later joined Bungie, where he became a Senior Concept Art Lead. At Bungie, he worked on a few expansions for Destiny 2, including The Witch Queen and Lightfall. Following his time at Bungie, Garza transitioned to creating concept art in digital and virtual reality formats for flagship products at Oculus/Facebook. He also showcases various past art pieces on his portfolio over at ArtStation.[7]
