Development History
Cascade Stronghold Technologies designed Ricochet armor for use in Ricochet matches in the SPARTAN-IVs' War Games.[1]
In-game information
Halo 4
The Ricochet armor was one of four new permutations added into Halo 4 with the release of the Bullseye Pack, purchasable separately or as part of the Champions Bundle.[3] The Ricochet armor is unlocked immediately upon purchase of the pack, though cannot be used in Spartan Ops. In Spartan Ops, the Ricochet armor is replaced with a default set of Recruit. The Ricochet armor has one skin available for its helmet-only - Hometeam (HMTM).
In Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the Bullseye Pack armors were not available for the game's Halo 4 component at launch, though were eventually added as part of the content available in Season 7: Elite. As part of this content update, the Ricochet armor was made unlockable in the season's unlock tree. As part of this update, Ricochet was made useable in Spartan Ops.

Halo 5: Guardians
While Halo 5: Guardians does not contain Ricochet armor specifically for Spartan customization, the following sets make use of the Ricochet forearms: Air Assault, CIO, Commando, Defender, Enforcer, EVA, Pathfinder, Protector, Raider, Ranger, Recruit, Tracker, Strider, Argonaut, and Challenger.
Trivia
Production notes
- The concept art for Ricochet is directly overlaid on top of a promotional render for Air Assault, resulting in an erroneous visor and shoulder depiction. Also of note is the additional armor pieces added onto the thigh armor in concept art that didn't make it into the armor's final design. Despite this, the armor would reuse or retool many of Air Assault's armor assets, including the lower frontal chest armor, the backside of the torso armor, and the bicep armor.
Mistakes
- Prior to Halo 4's update and launch on PC, renders for the male version of Recruit in Halo 4 on Halo: The Master Chief Collection would feature Ricochet forearms, despite the in-game model using Recruit forearms.
Miscellaneous
- The armor's helmet and shoulder design alludes to 20th/21st century American football gear.
- The forearms for Ricochet are featured on the Spartan IVs in Halo 4's campaign, as well as many of the renders for Halo 4's armor long before they were added officially into the armor customization suite.
- Like all Champions Bundle DLC armor, Ricochet was not available in the Halo 4 customization options for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, until being added in Season 7: Elite.
