Memorial Basin is a Halo Wars multiplayer map in the Historic Battle DLC. It is playable 2v2.[1]

Summary

It is a small map for 2v2 with all starting bases in a tight rectangle with allies closest to each other. Between allies near the edge of the map is a Forerunner Bonus Reactor and between you and your closest enemy is a Forerunner Supply Elevator. Nearby each elevator is an extra building socket. In the center are two crashed Pelicans that provide garrisonable cover for infantry and often becomes a highly contested spot. Dotted around the map are additional smaller covers made by crashed Warthogs. In total there are eight base slots with four on each side. Two near the center and one nearby behind each base forming an X with the cover at the center.

Strategy

The cover at the center provides a good view of much of the map and most attacks must go by it making it a good way to intercept incoming attacks. A good way to attack the hill is to use your units special abilities. A few RPGs will make them take a lot of damage. Also use flamethrowers to burn them out of cover. Many players will occupy every cover on the map even those near enemy bases making a near perfect defense grid to warn you of enemy attacks as soon they leave the base. Also if the attack is not stopped by the time it arrives to your base it is nearly destroyed. Consequentially those close to enemy bases are taken early if playing online. Also early in battle there is often competition between you and your ally to take the Forerunner Bonus Reactor so don't depend on it. It is often useful to wait till late in the battle to try and take the Forerunner Supply Elevator because if the enemy has it their troops are likely not as strong or numerous as if it was rebel occupied. It is also useful to rely on air units or uber units because all bases but those you begin with are in narrow canyons making large armies difficult to maneuver. It is also useful to take advantage of the supply crates laying around at the start and the extra building sockets and in the center cover are large piles of supply crates.

Trivia

  • This map has the most starting supply crates and garrisonable covers of all maps.
  • This map is the smallest 2v2 map.
