Battle at Red Slate is the tenth mission of Halo: Spartan Assault.

Introduction[edit]

With the Covenant's southern forces exposed, Spartan Palmer and the 23rd Armored Cavalry's massive column of Scorpions and Grizzlys rushed across the Red Slate plateau on a collision course with several Covenant tank battalions. Only a UNSC counter-offensive would prevent Faraday from being crushed between the northern and southern front.

The 23rd had brought eighty-six vehicles to Draetheus V. After the battle at Red Slate, there were only eight functioning vehicles left.

Objectives[edit]

Eliminate all Wraiths[edit]

Spartan Sarah Palmer is operating an M808 Scorpion at Red Slate Plateau. Several other Scorpion tanks and UNSC Marines stand nearby. Palmer must destroy seven Zurdo-pattern Wraiths. As the Scorpions move forward, several suicidal Unggoy Minors charge at the convoy but are killed by the tanks. Further on the plateau, numerous Sangheili Minors, Kig-Yar Minors, and Unggoy are waiting ahead. One Unggoy is manning a Mamua'uda-pattern Shade. Near the debris of a destroyed Wraith, a Sangheili-controlled Wraith approaches Palmer and the convoy. Although several Sangheili arrive to reinforce the Wraith, Palmer and the convoy destroy it. Palmer continues to the west and discovers a second Wraith and its Kig-Yar Minor escorts. The Spartan quickly destroys all Covenant forces in the area. To the north west, numerous Karo'etba-pattern Ghosts attack Palmer. An empty Scorpion tank rests nearby. As she continues north, many Sangheili warriors, a Shade turret, and Unggoy suicide bombers guard a third Wraith. Although Palmer succeeds in destroying all hostiles. Just to the east of the third Wraith, a fourth Wraith is waiting nearby the edge of a small gorge. Spartan Palmer is successful in destroying it and its escorts.

Palmer continues east and several suicidal Unggoy charge from the north, but they are easily killed by Palmer's Scorpion. As she heads to the south east sector of the plateau, Kig-Yar, Ghosts, and Sangheili attack Palmer's Wraith. Another unmanned Scorpion tank sits nearby. After eliminating the nearby Covenant forces, she heads east and encounters several Ghosts and two of the remaining Wraiths. Near the south east, Palmer finds the final Wraith, as well as its escorts and a Shade turret. However, Palmer is successful in destroying the Wraith and all Covenant forces.

Trivia[edit]

  • The player can take another Scorpion Tank from the ally if it's available to be used should the player's Scorpion Tank take heavy damage.
    • If any allied Scorpion Tank reaches the edge of the map before the player can use it, it will instantly explode.

Notes[edit]

  1. ^ Roland was activated on December 5, 2557. The events of Halo: Spartan Strike also takes place during 2557, as shown by the introductory cutscene of Operation A: Orphic Spear. Being a sequel to Halo: Spartan Assault it is implied (although not confirmed) that the present day events of Spartan Strike take place after those of Spartan Assault.
