Escape from Faraday is the nineteenth mission of Halo: Spartan Assault.

Introduction[edit]

Strategic location at the Epsilon Expanse had been hard won, and a rear guard was established at each of the bridge's exit points to cover the convoy of Elephants taking the evacuees south.

Spartan Palmer knew that taking a slow-moving pack of transport vehicles across a quickly degenerating warzone was not going to be easy. While earlier operations at the Epsilon Expanse had secured access to the Red Slate Plateau, hordes of Covenant were overrunning the area, also trying to get to their ships in the south. These forces quickly diverted their attention to the fleeing Elephants.

Objectives[edit]

Defend the Elephant from the rear assault[edit]

Spartan Sarah Palmer and two UNSC Marines stand behind an M312 Elephant. The Elephant begins to move forward as numerous Sangheili Minors and suicidal Unggoy attack to from behind. As Palmer and the Marines follow the Elephant, Covenant forces continue to charge at the Elephant—generally ignoring the Spartan and Marines. Occasionally, the Elephant fires rockets at the Covenant behind it. As the Elephant crosses one of the Epsilon Expanse's bridges, other Elephants can be seen on bridges below also crossing the Expanse while under attack by Covenant forces. About halfway across the bridge, numerous Yanme'e Minors fly onto the bridge from below and attack Palmer and the Elephant. After killing the Drones, several more waves of Sangheili and suicidal Unggoy Minors continue to assault the Elephant from behind. Occasionally, a Sangheili Major leads the Covenant forces into battle. Near the end of the bridge, Palmer discovers an unmanned, badly damaged Karo'etba-pattern Ghost. Another swarm of Yanme'e attacks shortly after. Once the Elephant exits the bridge, Covenant forces begin to attack to from the front.

Defend the Elephant from the frontal assault[edit]

Suicidal Unggoy forces begin to attack the Elephant from the front. Covenant road blocks force Palmer to abandon any vehicle she is operating. From the front, massive waves of suicidal Unggoy attack. Numerous Kig-Yar Minors join the engagement as well. One Unggoy Minor runs from the Elephant and takes control of a Mamua'uda-pattern Shade and begins to fire at the Elephant. While Palmer holds off the Covenant attack, the Elephant succeeds in safely advancing.

Trivia[edit]

Although the level's briefing picture features an M313 Elephant, only M312 Elephants are seen during the level.

Notes[edit]

  1. ^ Roland was activated on December 5, 2557. The events of Halo: Spartan Strike also takes place during 2557, as shown by the introductory cutscene of Operation A: Orphic Spear. Being a sequel to Halo: Spartan Assault it is implied (although not confirmed) that the present day events of Spartan Strike take place after those of Spartan Assault.
