Assault on CF-32 is the first mission of Halo: Spartan Assault. The mission features Spartan Edward Davis defending a site CF-32 platform from Merg Vol's Covenant forces.

Introduction[edit]

The northern continent of X50, Draetheus-V's moon, was riddled with large ice-covered sinkholes where the UNSC conducted a number of research projects. While there were standard security measures in place, no one was prepared when a massive fleet of Covenant Spirits appeared over the moon in direct violation of the Human/Covenant Treaty of 2552.

Spartan Davis deployed to site CF32 to support the project's security detail, who were overwhelmed by the sudden attack. Davis managed to blunt the assault and moved to secure Alpha Facility, which he assumed was the inevitable target of the invasion force.

Objectives[edit]

Survive the Covenant invasion[edit]

Spartan Davis and four UNSC Marines are standing on a platform that is overlooking site CF-32 in the canyon below. A Dextro Xur-pattern Spirit flies by underneath the platform. A Covenant drop pod containing two Unggoy Minors lands nearby. After eliminating the first two Unggoy, several more begin attacking the Spartan and Marines on either side of the platform. A second drop pod, containing two more Unggoy Minors, lands to the left of the platform. In the canyon below, Spirits deploy Unggoy and Sangheili Minors to attack site CF-32, while Type-26 Banshees set the facility on fire. Davis and the Marines eventually eliminate the Unggoy surrounding the platform.

Eliminate remaining enemy opposition[edit]

Soon, more Unggoy arrive and continue to attack the Spartan and the surviving Marines, led by a Sangheili Minor. The Unggoy attack the platform from both sides. Davis and the Marines manage to kill the Unggoy, and eventually the Sangheili.

Eliminate the Elite squadron[edit]

Shortly after, a second Covenant drop pod lands on the left side of the platform, containing a single Sangheili Minor. The Minor is supported by a second Sangheili that also arrives on the left side. After a small firefight, Davis kills both Sangheili Minors.

Production notes[edit]

The drop pod featured in this level's artwork is the Suspa Al-pattern Assault Carapace, a vehicle cut from Halo: Reach and replaced in-game with the Yado-pattern Intrusion Carapace. This artwork is the first appearance of the drop pod in Halo release media, prior to its official canonisation in 2017's Halo: Warfleet.

Notes[edit]

  1. ^ Roland was activated on December 5, 2557. The events of Halo: Spartan Strike also takes place during 2557, as shown by the introductory cutscene of Operation A: Orphic Spear. Being a sequel to Halo: Spartan Assault it is implied (although not confirmed) that the present day events of Spartan Strike take place after those of Spartan Assault.
