Descend from the Perch is the eleventh mission of Halo: Spartan Assault.

Introduction[edit]

As Spartan Palmer led the charge on Draetheus V, Spartan Davis continued to face considerable enemy threat on the moon. In a stroke of luck, the UNSC Eminent Domain was able to outmaneuver Covenant forces in orbit over the moon and offer some support by deploying marines to the southern Mirror Flats.

The 3rd Helljumper Platoon was the first to land on Draetheus V's moon. Their drop zone was less than a mile from Alpha facility but the landing scattered them across the razor sharp rock face of the mountain range called Glacial Perch. They were quickly surrounded by Covenant infantry and taking heavy losses. Spartan Davis, having held out against a constant stream of Unggoy and Sangheili for a full day, quickly set out to clear the landing zone for the second wave of drop pods.

Objectives[edit]

Secure the area for the second wave of incoming Marines[edit]

Spartan Edward Davis stands on the edge of a cliff, as several AV-22 Sparrowhawks pursued by Type-26 Banshees pass underneath. Spartan Davis has four minutes and thirty seconds to secure the area for the next wave of UNSC Marines. Davis moves forward and kills a lance of several Unggoy Minors, led by a Sangheili Minor. As he continues forward, a Sparrowhawk fires at a Banshee below but the Covenant aircraft is able to avoid the attack. After killing a lone Kig-Yar Minor, Davis encounters numerous Unggoy and Sangheili Minors. Moving through the rocky terrain, Spartan Davis fights through the Covenant forces. A suicidal Unggoy charges at the Spartan but it is quickly killed. Continuing west, Davis kills a Sangheili Major guarding a UNSC supply drop.

Soon, Davis discovers an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper survivor under attack by several Unggoy and Kig-Yar. After killing the aliens, a wave of suicidal Unggoy charge at Davis and the Marine, but they are defeated. Continuing along the path, Davis fights through a group of Kig-Yar Minors and Sangheili. Eventually, Davis engages in a firefight against a Sangheili Major and a lance of Unggoy. Moving forward, another wave of suicidal Unggoy charge forward but they are killed. West, Davis discovers a Mamua'uda-pattern Shade manned by an Unggoy and guarded by two Sangheili Minors and two Majors. Davis is able to kill all five Covenant soldiers. With all Covenant forces in the area defeated, four Single Occupant Exoatmospheric Insertion Vehicle land nearby and ODSTs exit them.

Notes[edit]

  1. ^ Roland was activated on December 5, 2557. The events of Halo: Spartan Strike also takes place during 2557, as shown by the introductory cutscene of Operation A: Orphic Spear. Being a sequel to Halo: Spartan Assault it is implied (although not confirmed) that the present day events of Spartan Strike take place after those of Spartan Assault.
