Historic Battle map pack

From Halopedia, the Halo wiki

(Redirected from Historic Battle DLC)

The Historic Battle DLC is a map pack for Halo Wars. The pack was released on July 21, 2009, for 800 Microsoft Points.[1] It was later made free alongside all other Xbox 360 Halo DLC[2], and was included in the 2017 release of Halo Wars: Definitive Edition.

Description[edit]

Expand your Halo Wars experience with the Historical Battle Map Pack Add-on. These new maps highlight key turning points in the epic war between the UNSC and Covenant forces. The maps include: Blood River – battle a single opponent over a treacherous natural chokepoint; Barrens – engage your enemy in the midst of the Flood; and Memorial Basin – two vs. two team play in one of the bloodiest battles in Halo history.[3]

Included maps[edit]

Four maps are included in the Historic Battle pack.

Achievements[edit]

The pack also includes four new achievements. All four achievements are included by default as part of Halo Wars: Definitive Edition.

  • Tour Coming Through: Hot drop 50 squads to your Covenant Leader in a single game on Barrens (30 gamerscore).
  • Never Leave a Man Behind: Finish a game with 5000 net resources contributed to your teammates on Memorial Basin (15 gamerscore).
  • Drain Cleaner: Kill 20 enemy squads with a continuous Covenant Leader Power on Memorial Basin (30 gamerscore).
  • Killjoy: Disrupt 5 active Leader Powers in a single game on Blood River (25 gamerscore).

Production notes[edit]

The Historic Battle pack was originally envisioned as only shipping with three maps; Barrens, Blood River and Memorial Basin. However, Robot Entertainment saw a large fan demand for more 3v3 maps, and instead investigated the possibility of creating a new 3v3 map. Ultimately, it was determined infeasible to create a new map from scratch, so as a compromise the existing map Frozen Valley was used as a basis from which to create a new 3v3 map; Glacial Ravine.[4]
