Remnant is a multiplayer map in Halo 2: Anniversary, released on May 30, 2015.[3][4][5][6] It is a remake of Relic from Halo 2, with some minor changes. The map is one of the seven Halo 2 multiplayer maps that have been completely re-imagined in Halo 2: Anniversary.[7]
Universe and lore[edit]
Remnant is a secluded island in the coastal regions of Installation 05, housing an enigmatic Forerunner megalith. This structure later became subject to comprehensive research by Lisbon pioneer groups. Local inscriptions cataloged by the research groups indicate that the megalith was constructed to pay tribute to Warrior-Servants who were killed during the final siege of Forerunner colonies by prehistoric human forces as part of their attempts to contain the Flood's first outbreak, resulting in numerous casualties on both sides.[8]
Overview[edit]
Layout[edit]
The map is an asymmetrical large scale map for 8v8 games, particularly for alternating offense/defense gametypes like One Flag CTF or One Bomb Assault.
The Drop Zone, West Ridge, and Teleport Ridge serve as the base for one team, with natural terrain that block sightline from the main structure. The other base of the map, the Platform, serves as the main structure in the center, accessible by its sides as well as the far end using ramps and crates. The Pinnacle, which overlooks the half of the map, provides defending players with an elevated position at the cost of little cover. The Watchtower and Beach give attackers different paths to power weapons and route to the far end of the Platform. Inside the Bowl at the far end of the Platform, there is a switch which activates a two-way teleporter to Teleport Ridge, allowing players of both teams to quickly access the opposing team's base.
