ORBITAL-class Mjolnir is a variant of the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor [GEN2] manufactured by Naphtali Contractor Corporation.[2]

OverviewEdit

Design detailsEdit

The helmet features the Buffalo A-29 comm suite, which works flawlessly with the ad-hoc and anarchic telecommunication networks found in many colonies.[3] Some models of the helmet have the "Mark of the Breaker" skull emblazoned on the visor.[1]

The suit has momentum-governing collar mounts,[1] a valence-fading blast shield, L4-0 braced generators, and tow-grip isolation packs for quick yet stable mobility in zero-g settings.[4]

Development historyEdit

Developed by the Naphtali Contractor Corporation, the Orbital variant was tested and was the first to survive the Buffalo Breaker Yards testing site. This granted some models of the helmet a distinct skull emblem, known as the "Mark of the Breaker", on the visor.[1]

The suit is a modified variant following the same production lines as the EVA-class Mjolnir, though it was developed specifically for orbital and suborbital combat, where conditions similar to space often converge with harsh atmosphere and gravity-borne challenges.[1]

It was also field-tested during the battles in the skyhooks and space elevators on Earth and Luna during the Battle of Earth.[5] This test was a success, leading to the Orbital-class armor's adoption by Spartan-IVs.[1]

UsageEdit

Patrolling Spartans equipped with ORBITAL-class Mjolnir armor are a common sight near Earth's orbital tethers and military space stations.[6] Some models of the helmet have the "Mark of the Breaker" skull emblazoned on the visor. Adoption of this set has not overtaken the EVA variant, although War Games has repeatedly proven the Orbital armor's viability.[1]

In-game InformationEdit

Halo 4Edit

Orbital was first introduced into the Halo games as an armor set in Halo 4. The armor has two available skins: Aeon (AEON) and Swift (SWFT). As with all Halo 4 armor, the skins were not included in the initial release of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, though the release of Halo 4 on PC and the start of Series 4: Reclaimer saw the skins added into the collection as default unlocks.

Both skin variants for Orbital have an additional Twin-plated arms counterpart.

Halo 5: GuardiansEdit

The Orbital set returns in Halo 5: Guardians. The helmet and body armor are unlockable as armor permutations through the Requisition system. The body armor is not a fully-original design, and as such includes a number of supplementary Halo 4 pieces—primarily the Twin-plated forearms and Recruit legs. The Orbital set has three alternate skins: Perihelion, Aphelion and Equinox.

TriviaEdit

The skins in Halo 5: Guardians all refer to positions of planets in relation to the sun. Perihelion is closest, aphelion is farthest, and an equinox is when day and night are equal in length.
