Halo: Reach armory description

The MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/G, also known as Grenadier, is a variant of the MJOLNIR Mark IV Powered Assault Armor.

History

It was introduced in 2535, ten years after the first version of MJOLNIR entered service.[1] The [G] variant served as the basis for all subsequent supplemental armor development programs and is compatible with later models such as the Mark V. The [G] variant served as a test bed for incorporating energy shielding technology with the MJOLNIR program,[2] though these test were not successful;[3] energy shielding had previously been tested by SPARTAN-II Red Team in 2531.[4] Jorge-052 wore a variant of the Grenadier helmet with the UA (Up-Armored) attachment, as well as the knee guards, left shoulder, and UA chest piece. The shoulder pauldrons for this armor set are categorized as "blast-guard pauldrons".[1]

After the first wave of GEN2 systems, based on requests of veteran Spartan-II and Spartan-III operatives, the UNSC Ordnance Commission considered reassessing a refined and upgraded version of the Grenadier suit. This led to the creation of the INDOMITABLE-class Mjolnir.[5]
