Heretic

Heretic is a multiplayer map for Halo 3, it will be released with the Mythic Map Pack along with 5 others. Not much is known about this map, other than it will have an Energy Sword, as it is required for the 'Blades of Fury' achievement.

Skull

The crest of the hidden skull on this level appears to be the Covenant, Mark of Shame. Judging by this seems the level will have a Covenant environment or the Flood controlled High Charity.

Trivia

• The term "Heretic" is used by the Covenant Loyalists to refer to the Covenant Separatists, hinting that this map may feature Covenant Separatist structures.
• Getting a Sword Spree medal on this map earns the player the 'Blades of Fury' achievement.
• It is speculated that this map may be a remake of Midship, a previous Halo 2 Map. There has been no confimation from Bungie on the matter, however. Some argue that a remake is unlikely, as Assembly already has a similar structure to Midship, while believers argue that Bungie never denied a Midship remake, only that Assembly was not one.
• It has also been speculated that it could be based on the level The Arbiter, or The Heretic from Halo 2, as the gas station featured in that level was controlled by the Heretics.
• An unconfirmed description of the map supports the idea of a Midship Remake: "Because of its speed and luxury, the Pious Inquisitor has become an irresistible prize during these dark times." 2-8 players
• The fact that there is an achievement to score a sword spree on the map suggests that it is either a small or medium sized map.
