Summary
Chill Out is a multiplayer map in Halo: Combat Evolved. It is considered the best map for 2v2 and 1v1. Based on a floor of steaming nitrogen and Covenant-made rooms, it is an extremely varied map and not symmetrical providing a very good multiplayer experience.
This map is both for Xbox and PC/Mac. The level does not have any bases, as they are rooms. It is a very closed in map, making great combat with minimal people. Also, with the unique bridge with one part higher then another and varied symmetry makes it a unique CTF map, as one team usually does more defense than the other.
Combat
Regular Weapon Locations
- Assault Rifle - lower pink room
- Needler - on teleporter exit bridge
- Pistol - in lower Rocket Launcher room
- Plasma Rifle - top level in Rocket Launcher room and in lower fog room
- Rocket Launcher - loft in main interior room
- Shotgun - in Overshield room
- Sniper Rifle - in Active Camouflage room
Strategic Points
- The Bridge (Recognized by a split into two sections leading out from each base)
- Ladders (Leading out from doorways providing overviews of courtyard areas)
- The Window(See upper right side of the above picture) (The large elevated open 'window' that overlooks both large connected rooms. With some skill, you can jump onto this from the ledge that spawns the rocket launcher. This 'window' is very thin and you can easily fall off. You will also be very visible with no cover if someone knows what your doing. However, if they do not, you have free range to shoot any unsuspecting players on the ground on both sides, anyone on the bridge on both sides, and even fire on people coming out of the elevated hallway with the teleporter.
Good Gametypes
- 16 players (minimum of 12)
- Rockets Who doesn't love em? Although the game becomes really hard for the reds to play if the game is CTF, because blue's can simply come over the bridge and shoot right into the red base, causing you to die even before you get a chance to walk away.
- Oddball Real challenge to win.
- Team Slayer Fight for the bridge.
- CTF Extremely fast paced- but try it with no shields. The Active Camo helps a lot.
