DEFENDER-class Mjolnir is a variant of the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor [GEN2] manufactured by the Imbrium Machine Complex.[1]

Overview[edit]

Design details[edit]

The helmet has a neutral face-plate contours for activity in civilian populations. It also has a XV-3 modular comm tool that prevents localized compromise.[1] The observation and communication features of the Defender helmet are well-suited for combat actuation in urban environments.[2]

The class-4 DFN chestplate employed in the system has a 12-7R feed (shield predictor system).[1]

Development history[edit]

The MJOLNIR/Defender variant was manufactured by Imbrium Machine Complex. It was tested at Anakara Resiliency Chamber.[3] It was developed in response to the UNSC Ordnance Commission which stated the need for defense-centric armor variants, which would be used for the protection of civilian populations rather than the assault of enemy strongholds. While following the strict ruling of the commission, the armor managed to be an effective combat system.[1]

Usage[edit]

The Defender variant is generally used on controller bases, ONI sites, and colonial populations where civil unrest is common.[1] The placid Defender faceplate is a symbol of both UNSC oppression and protection, due to use by Spartan anti-Insurrectionist units.[2]

Close range weapons training is common practice for users who plan to use this variant.[1]

The Defender armor was deployed at research facilities on Trevelyan and Gamma Halo.[3]

In-game information[edit]

Defender was an armor set present in Halo Online prior to its cancellation. This variant was intended to be repurposed and released into Halo: The Master Chief Collection; now dubbed "Utility", with a full suite of armor. The icons for this iteration of Defender were included in the flight files for Series 7: Elite, however the armor was never released.
