This variant has hundreds of additional tests and quality assurance checks are to minimize performance quirks that negatively impact War Games performance. The high-performance thrusters and shield emitter arrays require constant stress monitoring and adjustment to avoid critical failure during a match, much to the dismay of Infinity’s support teams.[1]

Halo 5: Guardians
The Challenger armor set was created primarily for the Halo World Championship eSports tournament. In March 2016, the suit was available for free for a limited time on March 20-21 by watching the tournament's finale on Twitch and getting the limited-time Halo World Championship REQ Pack.[2] The suit is not a fully-original design, and employs several Halo 4 armor pieces including the Protector body and shoulders and Ricochet forearms.
