UA, short for up-armored, is a series of supplemental armor attachments and accessories compatible with the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor and battle dress uniforms worn by UNSC infantry.[1]
Overview[edit]
Design details[edit]
The UA category encompasses various attachments that are compatible with the helmet, shoulders, chest, wrist and thigh components of the MJOLNIR Mark V and MJOLNIR [GEN3] armors.[2][3] The UA series are typically armor reinforcements with different purposes depending on the modules. They can either come as a singular module or as a kit.
Usage[edit]
Many of the UA pieces are not exclusive to the MJOLNIR system, but are in use by regular UNSC Army or Marine troops as well.[1] Some UA attachments are designed for specialized personnel, like Spartans tasked with breaching or members of Spartan containment teams.[4][5]
Known modules and configurations[edit]
Helmet attachments[edit]
ARMET[edit]
The ARMET is a module for high-threat response on the MJOLNIR Mark VII helmet, adding a faceplate on the helmet's visor. It is manufactured by Chalybs Defense Solutions.[6]

Shoulder attachments[edit]
UA/CMA SN5 Type 11[edit]
The UA/CMA SN5 Type 11 shoulders were manufactured on the 24th century for Colonial Military Authority operatives assigned to deal with pirates, marauders, and insurgents. By 2560, the UA/CMA SN5 Type 11 shoulders were made compatible with MJOLNIR armor and used by Spartan-IV operatives. These shoulders are also popular with the Venezian Militia.[32]
WAYLAND[edit]
The UA/WAYLAND shoulders consist of munitions bandoliers strapped to the regular GEN2 Mark VI left shoulder. The right shoulder is stripped from its shoulder plate, and replaced with a Combat knife.[33]
Chest attachments[edit]
Ajka[edit]
The Ajka is a chest plate manufactured by the Materials Group.[34]
COG[edit]
Manufactured by Misriah Armory, the COG is an up-armored chest gear that was tested in undocumented worlds with dense terrain.[35]
D0-01-CCR Breaching Kit[edit]
Manufactured by Beweglichkeitsrüstungsysteme, the D0-01-CCR Breaching Kit (also designated as “Collar/Breacher”) is an armored yoke which doubles as a carrier for additional shotgun shells.[36][37]
D0-06-FGM Tactical Kit[edit]
Manufactured by Beweglichkeitsrüstungsysteme, the D0-06-FGM Tactical Kit (also designated as “UA/Multi-Threat”) is a multi-threat up-armor module kit that adds a supplemental torso armor. It is compatible with most MJOLNIR models and variants.[38][39]
Double Guard[edit]
The Double Guard up-armor attachment is a Misriah Armory-licensed up-armor plating based on the armor plate used by the Banished's Unggoy Mules. It can be manufactured using any industrial minifac.[40]
Eloric[edit]
The Eloric up-armor chest rig is manufactured by Emerson Tactical Systems. It features a Combat knife and additional shotgun shells.[41]
GRT78 chest[edit]
The UA/GRT78 chest consists of a heavily-armed chest rig compatible with GEN2 MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark VI. It has numerous bandoliers and pouches for ammunition storage.[42]
KOTIN chest[edit]
The UA/KOTIN chest consists of a heavily-armoured Titanium-A chest rig compatible with GEN2 MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark VI. It has numerous grenade pouches and munitions packs.[43]
M550D Halfplate[edit]
Manufactured by Beweglichkeitsrüstungsysteme, the M550D Halfplate is a set of up-armored plating designed to minimize its impact on the wearer's mobility.[44]
M557 Jackplate[edit]
Manufactured by Beweglichkeitsrüstungsysteme, the M557 Jackplate is a module of up-armored plating for Spartans tasked with breaching and urban warfare.[4]
M560 Plate[edit]
Manufactured by Imbrium Machine Complex, the M560 Plate was created to protect Mjolnir's shield generator for recovery, even if the rest of the armor is compromised.[45]
Macrospline[edit]
Manufactured by the Watershed Division, with the help of Dr. Catherine Halsey, the Macrospline was created using Sentinel chassis.[46]
Malachit Plate[edit]
Manufactured by Beweglichkeitsrüstungsysteme, the Malachit Plate is an up-armored plating considered the defining standard for assault roles.[47]
NERA-APS[edit]
Manufactured by Emerson Tactical Systems, the NERA-APS chest plate is reinforced with non-explosive reactive armor casettes and, according to Emerson's marketing material, it is suitable for use over most UNSC hard armor.[48]
NERA-ATS[edit]
Manufactured by Beweglichkeitsrüstungsysteme, the NERA-ATS is an adaptation of a set of NERA tiles fabricated as vehicle protection kits, reconditioned as a chest piece as part of the Paladin project.[49]
NERA-SOFAS[edit]
The NERA-SOFAS chest plate is a non-energetic reactive armor and presumably comes in two forms: a variant manufactured by the UNSC and a variant recreated by the crew of the UNSC Spirit of Fire while on Installation 00.[Note 1] The variant made by the Spirit of Fire's AI Isabel features a mix of old and new ERA technologies.[50]
ODST[edit]
Manufactured by Cascade Stronghold Technologies, this chest plate is an adaptation of the ODST chest plate for the first iteration of the Mark V armor, after many technologies initially developed for the MJOLNIR program saw a widespread adoption.[51][52]
Sacrifice[edit]
A variant featuring a more angular design and named UA/Sacrifice is also available for operatives using the Rakshasa armor.[53]
Relikt Cuirass[edit]
Manufactured by Vakara GesmbH, the Relikt Cuirass is a set of armor reinforcements created to meet the requirements of Spartan containment teams.[5]
Responder[edit]
The Responder chest plate is manufactured by the 343 Industries.[54]
Ringeck[edit]
The Ringeck duelist turning plate presumably comes in two forms: a variant manufactured by the Materials Group and a variant recreated by the crew of the UNSC Spirit of Fire while on Installation 00.[Note 1] The variant made by the Spirit of Fire features almost impercetible revisions made by Isabel, which makes the Ringeck compatible with modern shield-shaping waveguides.[55]
Semi-Ablative Test Kit[edit]
Manufactured by the Materials Group, the Semi-Ablative Test Kit (SATeK) is an up-armor system put on the front lines for evaluation, after being forcibly pulled out from Materials Group's lab.[56]
Shield Rapid Effect System[edit]
Manufactured by the Watershed Division, the Shield Rapid Effect System was aiming to create a chest plate with an electromagnetic field generator capable to deflect or dissipate plasma projectiles. However, the SRES project was cancelled in 2528 due to the colossal power requirements and limited effectiveness outside lab conditions; this led to existing SRES units being retooled to function as emergency power backups.[57]
Shield Improvement Module - Alpha[edit]
The Shield Improvement Module - Alpha (SIMA; also designated as UA/Base Security) was an upgrade manufactured by Materials Group. The module itself is an armored housing that improves the wearer's energy shielding, but it never reached successful deployment. However, the armored housings themselves quickly found a new use among Spartan-IIIs. [58][59]
TAAP[edit]
Manufactured by SinoViet Heavy Machinery, the TAAP module (also designated as "HP/HALO") is a supplemental yoke that provides an extra layer of collar protection constructed from warship-grade Titanium-A.[60] The module features hard points for High-Altitude Low-Opening gear.[61]
Tarnok[edit]
The Tarnok is chest piece manufactured by the Materials Group.[62]
TSA Prototype[edit]
Manufactured by Chalybs Defense Solutions, the TSA Prototype (also designated as "UA/Counterassault") adds a testbed thermal-superconducting plate, designed to provide additional protection against plasma-based weaponry,[63] while increasing storage capacity.[64]
VAUNTLOCK[edit]
Manufactured by Materials Group, the VAUNTLOCK ensemble is an armored yoke which adds an early-model VAUNTLOCK power pack, which can temporarily power Mjolnir shields if the suit's fusion power plant fails.[65] It is integrated into the INDOMITABLE-class Mjolnir.[22]
TIGERPLATE[edit]
A new exploration of the VAUNTLOCK shield power pack concept, named TIGERPLATE, was manufactured by the Materials Group. Its significantly smaller than the old VANTLOCK ensemble.[66]
X800 Plate[edit]
Manufactured by Korolev Heavy Industries, the X800 Plate is the company's testbed for methods of stacking NxRA plates and electromagnetic shielding, aiming to counter both Covenant and Forerunner weaponry.[67]
Wrist attachments[edit]

Trivia[edit]
- The UA/Multi-Threat appeared in the Halo: Reach multiplayer beta as the ASSAULT/SCOUT, this version did not include a belt. Likewise the UA/Base Security [W] appeared as the MP/BASE SECURITY which also did not include a belt. The belt-less versions remained in the files of Halo: Reach, but went unused.
- It was not until the release of Season 1: Noble in Halo: The Master Chief Collection that the belt-less versions returned.
- The UA/BUCKLER is named after a small hand-held shield from the middle ages of the same name.
- The UA/CHOBHAM is named after the composite tank armor of the same name.
- The Relikt Cuirass and Malachit Plate seem to be named after the 3rd generation Relikt and 4th generation Malachit explosive reactive armors used on modern Russian armored vehicles.

Notes[edit]
- ^ a b Leon-011 is depicted wearing UA/Ringeck in Halo: Hippocratica, while the UA/NERA-SOFAS is described in the Armor Hall as a mix of old and new ERA tecnologies created by Isabel. Given this story is set in 2560, presumably while the Spirit of Fire and crew are still at Installation 00 (at least according to Adam Andrews's knowledge of the vessel's whereabouts) and the Armor Hall description of the UA/Ringeck produced on the Spirit of Fire mentioning it having revisions made by Isabel, it leaves room for the Spirit of Fire's Ringeck and NERA-SOFAS chest pieces to be a recreation of existing chest plates. As this is the most logical reconciliation of the discrepancy, this article describes it as such.
