The CBRN module, short for the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear module, is an external attachment for several MJOLNIR Mark V and [GEN3] helmets.[1][2]
Overview
Design details
CBRN modules are typically filter attachments worn externally on the "mouth" area of helmets.[3]
Usage
The CBRN modules are employed for operations in hazard zones, wherein chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats are present.[4]
Known modules
The CBRN module has multiple observed modules, each with its own distinct physical appearance.
AML 201-1
Manufactured by Watershed Division, the AML 201-1 CBRN module contain an unknown type of programmable matter and hives for nanomachine swarms that augment a Spartan's respiratory efficiency. The analysis process is complicated by how the nanomachines become inert outside the helmet or host Spartan.[5]
FIM-A
The Field Improvised Module-A (FIM-A) is an ad hoc configuration built with off-the-shelf parts manufactured by Materials Group. Attached to the top and the sides of the Armet helmet, the modules' purpose is for hazard communications.[6]
MK12T2 TRAILWATCH
Manufactured by Lethbridge Industrial, the MK12T2 TRAILWATCH module features filters and backup life support components certified at the Lethbridge Combat Fields.[7]
MK17 MOD1 KUZNETS
Manufactured by Korolev Heavy Industries, the MK17 MOD1 KUZNETS module is specialized for the interiors of Forerunner megastructures.[8]
MK55
Manufactured by Imbrium Machine Complex, the MK55 module is a filter attachment used during extended operations in environments contaminated by chemical agents, radionuclides, and biological hazards.[3]
The MK55 module has been observed to be compatible with the following helmets:
MK59E GLANCE
Manufactured by Imbrium Machine Complex, the MK59E GLANCE module is designed for hazardous operations in the tainted atmosphere of damaged space station and warships. The MK59E GLANCE module has been observed to be compatible exclusively with the AVIATOR-class Mjolnir helmet.[13]
MK62 ISES
Manufactured by Misriah Armory, the MK62 ISES module is a rebreather system designed for extended-duration operations in underwater, airless, or toxic environments. It is compatible exclusively with the FIREFALL-class Mjolnir helmet.[14]
MOD-P
Manufactured by Naphtali Contractor Corporation, the MOD-P CBRN module is designed to maximize endurance and efficacy in various atmospheric conditions, or to aid Spartans in tracking specific biochemical signatures. The MOD-P CBRN module has been observed to be compatible exclusively with the MORRIGAN-class Mjolnir helmet.[15]
EOD-style module
This EOD-style module is a pair of filter attachments on either side of the helmet. It is employed on the standard Mark V EOD-class Mjolnir helmet, but it could be removed for other helmet attachments.[16]
This module has been observed to be compatible with the following helmets:
AKIS-style module
The AKIS-style module was developed in parallel to the AKIS helmet, and has only been observed as compatible to the AKIS helmet.[18]
Gameplay
The CBRN modules serve as cosmetics and have no impact on gameplay.
Halo: Reach
Two of the CBRN modules are available as attachments on several helmets in the armor permutations of Halo: Reach. The device is priced at different levels of Credits, depending on the base helmets. In Halo: The Master Chief Collection, the same CBRN-attached helmets are unlockable in Season 1: Noble, while the AKIS-style module added in Series 5: Anvil.
Halo 5: Guardians
A CBRN module is featured on the EOD GEN1 helmet, which is one of the helmets that could be acquired through the Classic Helmet REQ Pack in Halo 5: Guardians .
Halo Infinite
CBRN module attachments are available as customization options in Halo Infinite.

Production notes
"CBRN" stands for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear, and is pronounced "C-BURN". It is the same abbreviation used in real life, hence its association with the HAZOP armor permutation.
