Target acquisition system (TAS) is an external helmet attachment compatible with the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor.[1]
Overview[edit]
Design details[edit]
External target acquisition systems tend to be bulky and complex.[2]
Usage[edit]
TAS modules are used for target acquisition.
Known modules[edit]
There are several modules for external target acquisition systems, each with its own distinct physical appearance.
DROCTULF[edit]
Manufactured by Meyer e.V., the DROCTULF module incorporated technologies adjacent to Project THEIA to reduce the bulk and complexity of external target acquisition systems. The DROCTULF module has been observed to be compatible exclusively with the ZVEZDA-class Mjolnir helmet.[2]
FES/BRONTES[edit]
The FES/BRONTES module presumably comes in two forms: a variant manufactured by the United Nations Space Command and a variant recreated by the crew of the UNSC Spirit of Fire while on Installation 00.[1][3][Note 1] The FES/BRONTES module build by the Spirit of Fire is a field-expedient combination of spare parts, ONI's "BRONTES" firmware, and reused up-links designed by the Smart AI Isabel, providing the equipped Spartans on the Lesser Ark with a direct connection to the ship's targeting array.[4]
The FES/BRONTES module is compatible with:
GUNGNIR MOD 3[edit]
Manufactured by Misriah Armory and based on Project GUNGNIR, the GUNGNIR MOD 3 adds a face shield with an integrated Wyrd III target acquisition package, which would go on to be a defining standard of UNSC fire control systems.[5] The GUNGNIR MOD 3 module has been observed to be compatible exclusively with the GUNGNIR-class Mjolnir helmet.[6]
GUNGNIR MOD 6[edit]
Manufactured by Meyer e.V. and based on Project GUNGNIR, the GUNGNIR MOD 6 adds new weapon interfaces, extended IFF range, and deeper battlenet synchronization among GUNGNIR-equipped Spartans. The GUNGNIR MOD 6 module has been observed to be compatible exclusively with the STORMFALL-class Mjolnir helmet.[7]
HYAS[edit]
Manufactured by Emerson Tactical Systems, the HYAS module features a cheaper and updated version of the Wyrd III hardware featured on both GEN1 and GEN2 versions of the GUNGNIR-class Mjolnir. The HYAS module has been observed to be compatible exclusively with Emerson's model of the Military Police helmet.[8]
LANTIFRID[edit]
Manufactured by Watershed Division, the LANTIFRID module is THEIA-compatible. Most of its functionality remains locked and undocumented, and even the highest-ranking ONI officers on the UNSC Infinity lack authority to access its low-level diagnostic functions. The LANTIFRID module has been observed to be compatible exclusively with the AKIS-II GRD helmet.[9]
MOTHACID[edit]
Manufactured by Watershed Division, the MOTHACID is a codename given by the Xeno-Materials Exploitation Group for a module used to detect, analyze, and identify alien artifacts and signal sources. Spartans have also adapted the instrumentation package to interface with Mjolnir fire control systems. The MOTHACID module has been observed to be compatible exclusively with the CELOX-class Mjolnir helmet.[10]
NETMOON[edit]
Manufactured by Watershed Division, the NETMOON module is a targeting array commonly used by snipers for low orbit targeting.[11]
The NETMOON module is compatible with:
- MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/Mark VII
- CAVALLINO-class Mjolnir
- CELOX-class Mjolnir
- DEADEYE-class Mjolnir
- FIREFALL-class Mjolnir
- ISR-class Mjolnir
- MENACHITE-class Mjolnir
- VOLANT-class Mjolnir
- WAR MASTER-class Mjolnir
ORCUS[edit]
Manufactured by Chalybs Defense Solutions, the ORCUS module is used by Spartan intelligence units for locating targets. The ORCUS module has been observed to be compatible exclusively with the RAMPART-class Mjolnir helmet.[12]
PATTERNWOLF[edit]
Manufactured by RKD Group, the second-generation PATTERNWOLF module uses miniaturized and improved version of the information fusion system fitted to the ARGUS helmet. However, Spartan-IV's lack the cognitive flexibility to make use of the PATTERNWOLF for more then a few minutes at a time. The PATTERNWOLF module has been observed to be compatible exclusively with the SHIKARI-class Mjolnir helmet.[13]
PATTON[edit]
Manufactured by Materials Group, the PATTON module collects data for the KOBOLD combat drone initiative. The PATTON module has been observed to be compatible exclusively with the ARTAIUS-class Mjolnir helmet.[14]
In-game information[edit]
Halo Infinite[edit]
TAS attachments are available as customization options in Halo Infinite.

Notes[edit]
- ^ August-099 is depicted wearing an Ardent helmet with TAS/FES/BRONTES attachment in Halo: Hippocratica. This story is set in 2560, presumably while the Spirit of Fire and crew are still at Installation 00, at least according to Adam Andrews's knowledge of the vessel's whereabouts. The Armor Hall description of the helmet attachment describes it as created by Isabel using spare parts, an ONI firmware called "BRONTES", and reused up-links made by Isabel herself leaves room for the FES/BRONTES attachment to be a recreation of an existing BRONTES attachment. As this is the most logical reconciliation of the discrepancy, this article describes it as such.
