Not to be confused with FCI attachments.

FC, short for Field Commander,[1] is a series of supplemental helmet attachments, or configurations of supplemental helmet attachments, that are compatible with the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor.[2] As the name suggests, they are likely equipment or configuration intended for field commanders within the UNSC.

Overview[edit]

The FC designation is employed by a wide range of devices and equipment, including optronics,[1] decryption devices,[3] optical filters as well as sensors.[4] In cases where a Command Network Module (CNM) and a Hardened Uplink (HUL) are both employed, the configurations are designated "FC", "FC-I", and "FC-I[2]" depending on the variants used.[5][6][7][8]

Known modules and configurations[edit]

ALFA[edit]

Optical filters and hardened sensors used for direct observation of exotic radiation bursts, such as those produced by NOVA detonations.

Manufactured by Materials Group, the ALFA module features optical filters and hardened sensors used for direct observation of exotic radiation bursts, such as those produced by NOVA bomb detonations. The ALFA module is compatible exclusively with the Mark V EOD-class Mjolnir helmet.[4]

BASIL[edit]

Manufactured by Meyer e.V., the BASIL is an extremely compact, mission-specific improved optronics module, typically employed by field commanders. It originated as field test for Project THEIA.[1]

The FC-I BASIL module is compatible with:

FASCIA[edit]

Manufactured by Misriah Armory, the FASCIA is an improved second-generation module that serve as a hardware-accelerator for decryption. The module itself features an additional satcom receiver panel and double as an up-armored module that protects the faceplate from high-angle attacks. The FASCIA module has been observed to be compatible exclusively with the COMMANDO-class Mjolnir helmet.[5][3][Note 1]

Unidentified FC configuration[edit]

The FC configuration on the UA variant of the Grenadier helmet.

FC refers to the configuration in which the AN/PCK-221 FARNDALE and AN/PZY-6011Y TYPHON CNM are both attached to the helmet. This configuration includes an external hardened uplink to the command network.[6] This FC configuration has been observed to be compatible with the GRENADIER-class Mjolnir helmet.

Unidentified FC-I configuration[edit]

The FC-I configuration on the UA variant of the Air Assault helmet.

FC-I refers to the improved configuration in which an external HUL, along with the CNM-I, are integrated on the TAC/RS/STARLIGHT attachment, though this configuration has only been observed on the MJOLNIR/AA variant.[7]

Unidentified FC-I[2] configuration[edit]

The FC-I[2] configuration on the Mark VI helmet.

FC-I[2] refers to an improved second-generation configuration in which both the AN/PCK-221 FARNDALE CNM and COURIER PEARL HUL[3] are attached to the helmet.[5][8] This configuration has been observed to be compatible with the Commando and MJOLNIR Mark VI helmets.

In-game information[edit]

Halo: Reach[edit]

The FC attachments in Halo: Reach are exclusive to Grenadier, Air Assault, Commando, and Mark VI helmets. The FC attachments appear to refer to cases where both the CNM and HUL are attached to the helmet. The FC-I configuration on the Air Assault helmet is the only exception, with a singular CNM attachment (later retconned as the TAC/RS/STARLIGHT attachment in Halo Infinite) on its side, though its description suggested that it is equipped with both the CNM and HUL.[7]

Halo Infinite[edit]

The FC attachments in Halo Infinite are unlockable in armor customization.

Notes[edit]

  1. ^ The FASCIA module was introduced in Halo: Reach as an FC-I[2] attachment. It is designated only as an FC-I attachment in Halo Infinite Season 01: Heroes of Reach.
