- "The Forerunner Tower up ahead is generating an incredible energy signature. If you can secure it, we might be able to tap into their power."
- — Ellen Anders[1]
The Power Node is a Forerunner structure on their installations.[2]
Overview[edit]
Function[edit]
On Installation 00, Power Nodes serve as part of the Ark's self-sufficiency measures, and act as surface access points to the installation's vast subterranean network of power infrastructure. When accessed, a Power Node can be used to provide auxiliary power for repairs and emergencies on the Ark, or can be tapped by other forces to exploit the installation for their own benefit.[2]
During the Second Ark Conflict, stranded light years from any support, the strategic importance of Forerunner power nodes was capitalised upon by both the United Nations Space Command detachment from UNSC Spirit of Fire and the Banished. Banished Warmaster Atriox eschews the Covenant's reverence for Forerunner artifacts and freely takes control of them for his own ends, and many a battle involves a desperate scramble to capture power nodes before the enemy can.[2]
In-game information[edit]
Halo Wars 2[edit]
In gameplay, Forerunner Power Nodes serve as minor objectives scattered across the map. They are typically defended by three to five Aggressor Sentinels, who remain neutral to players unless provoked by attempting to attack them or capture the Power Node. Once the Sentinels are dispatched, an infantry unit must be assigned to capture the point—once taken, the point will begin to generate power like a UNSC Generator or Banished Power Extractor.
Phoenix Log[edit]
Power resource point The Forerunners built the Ark to be completely self-sustaining, and much of its power lies in the vast subterranean web of power structures beneath its surface. These external power nodes were designed to provide auxiliary power during repairs or emergencies, giving those in control of them a steady flow of power resources. On this remote installation, light years from any support, both the UNSC and the Banished have realized the strategic importance of Forerunner power nodes. Eschewing the Covenant's reverence for Forerunner artifacts, Atriox has no compunction of taking control of them for his own ends, and many a battle involves a desperate scramble to capture power nodes before the enemy can. |
Halo Infinite[edit]
In Halo Infinite, power nodes can be found on the surface of Installation 07. As objects for set dressing, they serve no gameplay purposes.[3] In campaign, one power node is located north of FOB Bravo; there is an underground chamber directly underneath the power node, where a Spartan core could be collected. A second power node is located at the lake where Myriad is fought. Another variation of the power node can be found either bases in the multiplayer map Fragmentation.[4]
