UNSC Ozymandias was an Epoch-class heavy carrier in service with the UNSC Navy.[1]

Service history[edit]

The Ozymandias was in service by at least 2551, with Abigail Cole beginning her service on the ship then.[1]

On August 2, 2557, during a routine security sweep over Eos Chasma, the Ozymandias was engaged by a flotilla of just under a dozen Banished karves and a single Banished dreadnought. The Epoch-class heavy carrier slugged it out with the enemy ships for three hours, but while the Ozymandias had the tonnage and firepower on her side, the Banished had the advantage of numbers. In an attack too coordinated to dodge, the Banished disabled the ship's communications and engines, leaving her dead in the water and unable to call for help. Captain Abigail Cole decided to give the order to abandon ship, planning to go down with the Ozymandias in an attempt to give her crew a chance to make it down to the surface of Mars in the lifeboats. However, the Banished stepped up their attack, and Cole was knocked unconscious. She was then taken to a lifeboat by a Spartan. The Ozymandias managed to destroy three karves and the dreadnought, before falling to Mars' surface.[1]

In December 2559, as the UNSC Victory of Samothrace crashed into Boundary, Cole experienced a vision of her father on the bridge of the Ozymandias in orbit of Mars.[4]

Trivia[edit]

Ozymandias is the Greek name for the Egyptian pharaoh Ramesses II as well as the name of a famous sonnet by Percy Bysshe Shelley.
