Cataphract (hull classification symbol: IX-455) is a modified Winter-class prowler used by Spartan-II James-005 during his work as an ONI operative.

Design details[edit]
The ship boasted an astonishingly powerful slipspace drive, the result of several years of postwar FTL development with Forerunner technology. This allowed Cataphract to move across the stars quicker than just about anyone.[1]
While the standard Winter-class prowler could fit an entire Spartan fireteam, Cataphract was optimized for James' use as a lone operator with only an invisible AI companion. The crew deck had only one bed with the barest necessities. Below that deck was the cargo bay, a weapons locker, a cryotube for transporting "uncooperative" passengers, and a Brokkr Armor Mechanism that allowed James to get in and out of his Mark V MJOLNIR armor. At the fore of the crew deck was a cleaning station.[1]
At the top of its fuselage, Cataphract had a payload bay for James' Shearwater aerodyne.[1]
Service history[edit]
In 2554, Cataphract was acquired by James Solomon from the gray market for use in his missions as an ONI operative, serving him well over the years despite occasionally drawing unwanted attention.[1]
Following the Battle of Boundary and James' death, Lola used Cataphract to take Chloe Hall to Suntéreó.[2]
