Downloadable content, or DLC for short, is additional content for use in video games. DLC released for Halo has been distributed in several ways, ranging from disk based, to the internet through services like Xbox LIVE.

Halo 2 DLC[edit]

Due to Xbox LIVE being discontinued for Original Xbox consoles and games, it's no longer possible to get all the Halo 2 DLC that was avaliable though that service.[1]

Mythic Map Pack: Released as part of the Halo 3: Mythic disc that comes bundled with Halo 3: ODST along with all the other map packs on September 22, 2009, and later made separately available on February 2, 2010 for $10.00 (800 Microsoft Points), and made permanently free on July 7, 2017. It contained Citadel, Heretic, and Longshore.

Halo 3: ODST DLC[edit]

Drop Sgt. Johnson into Firefight[edit]

This was a pre-order bonus exclusive to those who pre-ordered the game. It allowed the player to play as Avery Johnson as their Firefight character.[3] With the addition of ODST's Firefight mode to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sergeant Johnson was made available for use by all players as the last unlock in Series 3: Recon.

Halo Wars DLC[edit]

Unique unit: Fireball Warthog[edit]

This was a pre-order bonus exclusive to those who pre-ordered the game. It changed the color of the Warthog to the Fireball skin, also known as the Spirit of Fire variant.[4] This DLC was later included as part of the Halo Wars: Definitive Edition regardless of whether the user pre-ordered or not.

Unique unit: Honor Guard Wraith[edit]

This was a pre-order bonus exclusive to those who pre-ordered the limited edition of the game. It changed the color of the Wraith to the Honor Guard variant.[5] This DLC was later included as part of the Halo Wars: Definitive Edition regardless of whether the user pre-ordered or not.

Three gametypes were released for 800 Microsoft Points on May 19, 2009. It also included four new achievements.

Historic Battle map pack[edit]

The only multiplayer map pack for this game was available for download for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live, and was released on the July, 21st 2009. It also included four new achievements.

Noble Map Pack[edit]

The Noble Map Pack was the first map pack released for Halo: Reach. It contains 3 new multiplayer maps and 7 new Achievements worth 250 Gamerscore and was released on November 30 for 800 Microsoft Points.

Defiant Map Pack[edit]

The Defiant Map Pack was the second map pack released for Halo: Reach. It contains two new multiplayer maps and one Firefight map. It includes three brand new achievements. It was released on 15 March 2011 for 800 Microsoft Points.

Anniversary Map Pack[edit]

Included with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and available on the Xbox Live Marketplace for $20.00, comes with seven new maps and achievements. Includes six remade classic multiplayer maps from Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 as well as one new Firefight map.

Halo 4 had a number of released DLC. In addition, a number of concepts for another proposed map pack have been released, though the maps were never created.

Awakening the Nightmare[edit]
