Janine Caryyew was a scientist in the United Nations Space Command Office of Naval Intelligence.

Biography

An eager but ditzy biologist who idolized Dr. Halsey, Janine examined a sample that Miranda Keyes had obtained from a hidden Forerunner lab and observed its behavior. Unbeknownst to Janine, that sample contained Flood spores, and due to her negligence, Janine became patient zero of a legendarily horrific pandemic that had been asleep for millennia until that moment. Under the influence of the spores, she attacked and presumably killed a fellow scientist, landing her in a prison holding cell next to Kessler, Laera, and James Ackerson. While incarcerated, Janine fell into a trance as the infection continued to overtake her mind, body, and soul, turning her into a Flood combat form as she started sprouting tentacles and attacked Kessler and Laera. In the nick of time, Ackerson grabbed a pistol from a prison guard who was also experiencing infection symptoms, emptying the gun's clip in order to shoot down the combat form that had once been the ONI biologist.
