Dengkra

Dengkra are a reptile-canine animal species on the Jiralhanae homeworld Doisac.[1] The Jiralhanae are known to hunt dengkra with heavy spearguns—precursors to the Skewer[1]—as early as before the species joined the Covenant.[2] The flesh of dengkra was gamey even for a Jiralhanae's sense of smell; Avitus considered the taste of the meat second only to thorn beast.[1]
During the Battle of Netherop (2559), Tovarus used the term in a negative context, describing one who would simply rely on the possibility that Created harriers had not noticed the conflict around the planet as a "brainless dengkra". Atriox, in turn, wondered if he should apply the same insult to Tovarus.[3]
Production notes[edit]
The Dengkra's description as a reptile-canine is notably similar to that of the so-called "Doberman Gator" concept creature designed for Halo: Combat Evolved.
