Step of Silence
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
The Step of Silence is a massive chamber inside the Sanctum of the Hierarchs located in the Covenant holy city High Charity, specially designated for the High Prophets.[1] The Step of Silence is a large, round room with an illuminated pedestal in the center. Suspended from the ceiling are hundreds of shards of glass, each a piece of a planet that has been glassed by the Covenant.[2] On the perimeter of the room, there is space for three hundred Honor Guard Elites, should a Prophet be present.[3] The room is suspended high above the Mausoleum of the Arbiter, and the various platforms within it are accessible by Gravity Portals.[4]
Appearances
- During the last chapter of Halo: First Strike,[5] the High Prophet of Truth and Tartarus, Chieftain of the Brutes discuss the events that took place on Installation 04, as well as the fate of the future Arbiter, the pilots, and Operation: FIRST STRIKE in this room.[6]
- The Step of Silence can be seen in the Halo 2 during the level High Charity. If the player looks up in the room with the two beam rifles in a crate, a carbine, and a swarm of Drones, they will see dozens of glowing blue and green shards hanging from the ceiling. There are exactly 76 shards in all, 19 shards in 4 rows. Each of these shards represents one planet glassed by the Covenant.
