- Dr. Catherine Halsey writes in her journal that only a few Section III efforts have been proven useful in fighting back the Covenant threat, including the SPARTAN-II program and their MJOLNIR armors, Projects BRAVADO, CONSECUENCE, and GUNGNIR, as well as next-generation AI and cloning technologies.[1]
- A tiny portion of the Kig-Yar shield system is deciphered by UNSC's Illegal Entry Protocols.[1]

- Operation: GREY VEIL takes place on Heian.[2]
- Sheila-065 is killed by Thel 'Lodamee in the Battle of Miridem[3][4] - the battle takes place concurrently with GREY VEIL.[5] Dr. Catherine Halsey is captured by Covenant forces who attempt to flee the system, prompting ONI to deploy a team of SPARTANs on a rescue mission.[6]
- After two years of battle against the Covenant, Alluvion's citizens have either died or fled. The colony is abandoned.[7]
- Construction of the UNSC Infinity begins.[8]
- The Corner, a store in the West Market of Mombasa, opens.[9]
