- The Battle of 18 Scorpii takes place. UNSC forces are saved by Insurrectionists.[1]

- Vice Admiral Preston Cole contacts Admiral Dale Kilkin at UNSC Central Command Reach Logistics Office requesting a series of requisitions, transfers and favors.[1]
March 18
- Dr. Catherine Halsey finds her old journal after it being lost for almost 6 years, and writes about transcribing notes into it from her new journal. She also writes about potential methods of securing her journal from unauthorized access, such as implanting a small strip of nanocene explosive keyed to her DNA into the clasp of the journal, but states that she'll most likely employ something "more refined".[2]

- The Battle of Psi Serpentis starts with UNSC Wink of an Eye's reconnaissance.[3]
April 18
- The Battle of Psi Serpentis, later known as Admiral Cole's Last Stand, takes place.[1] The UNSC fleet and Insurrectionists join forces to engage a massive Covenant armada above the gas giant Viperidae. At the conclusion of the battle, Admiral Cole initiates a massive nuclear strike on the planet, resulting in both its destruction as well as that of the entire Covenant force; With him and his command ship lost, Cole is later presumed KIA.

- A day of mourning is proclaimed by the UNSC following the apparent death of Admiral Cole.[1]
