The Battle of Vodin was an engagement between the UNSC and the Covenant in 2532, in which the Covenant attacked the human colony on the planet Vodin.
The Battle[edit]
During the battle, Randall Aiken, then SPARTAN-II Randall-037, fell from one of the planet's skyhooks after the destruction of that planet's space elevator and was presumed lost. In truth, he had survived the fall, having landed in an ocean, and was eventually rescued by the surviving colonists.[2]
Aftermath[edit]
Although Vodin suffered severe damage from the Covenant attack, it remained habitable, and the survivors were able to continue living on the planet, though they were cut off from the UNSC for ten years. During this time Aiken integrated himself with the colonists and even married one of them.[2] Edward Buck participated in this engagement.[1]
The parents of Rosenda-A344, who worked as colonial administrators for Vodin, were both killed in the attack - rendering Rosenda an orphan. As such, she was later picked up by the Office of Naval Intelligence as a candidate for the SPARTAN-III program.[3]
