The Kewu Umppi'pa'-pattern citadel turret is a modular stationary weapon built and employed by the Covenant and its remnants.[1][2]
OverviewEdit
Design detailsEdit
The turret is powered externally and features a large, semi-circular base, in the middle of which is an anti-gravity platform. The turret is automated and driven by sensor profiles,[3] but could be remotely link-controlled. The base model of the turret employs a heavy plasma cannon, though its modularity allows additional armaments, including a fuel rod cannon, needle cannon, or a plasma mortar, to be mounted at the discretion of the base commander.[1]
VariantsEdit
Image | Name | Description | Changes |
---|---|---|---|
Anti-infantry variant | A variant of the turret with an additional anti-infantry plasma mortar mounted. | Fires huge bolts of superheated plasma, which arc in a parabolic trajectory and explode violently upon impact. | |
Anti-vehicle variant | A variant of the turret with two additional anti-vehicle fuel rod cannons mounted. | Fires semi-automatic fuel rods. | |
Anti-aircraft variant | A variant of the turret with two additional anti-aircraft needle cannons mounted. | Fires automatic Subanese crystalline shards, which track aircrafts. |
UsageEdit
The Kewu Umppi'pa'-pattern citadel turret is typically deployed at field fortifications, occupation citadels, and, in rare cases, contested zones.[1]
Operational historyEdit
The Kewu Umppi'pa'-pattern citadel turret was deployed at Covenant citadels during the Harvest campaign, the Battle for Arcadia, and the Battle of Trove in 2531.[4] Following the Human-Covenant War, Merg Vol's Covenant deployed the citadel turrets on X50 during the Battle of Draetheus V in 2554.[2]
In-game informationEdit
Halo WarsEdit
- "Turrets are good at defending bases against all enemy targets."
- — In-game description
In Halo Wars, the citadel turret is the main defensive building, serving as the Covenant equivalent of the UNSC M5 Talos base turret. They cost 250 and become available for construction at the citadel's turret sockets when an Outpost is upgraded to a Keep. For the specialized upgrades, the player may only use one upgrade at a time. Extra weapons do not affect the plasma cannon's operation. As well as weapon upgrades, citadel turrets can be further upgraded to medium turrets, and then large turrets at the Covenant temple.
