In 2552, during the Human-Covenant War, a battle took place at Luna.
BackgroundEdit
In October 2552, the Prophet of Regret discovered Earth with his fleet.[3] With the discovery, the planet was attacked by Covenant forces.[4]
BattleEdit
Luna's skyhook defense complexes came under attack by the Covenant and were defended by ONI Security personnel.[5] Prototype versions of the ORBITAL-class Mjolnir were rushed into service[6] in order to protect these skyhook complexes.[7]
Other Covenant forces attacked Luna's cities to ensure that the UNSC would not be able to launch a sneak attack from their Lunar military bases. Most if not all of Jonathan Doherty's relatives died in these attacks.[8]
AftermathEdit
Both Luna and Mars got hit particularly hard compared to other colonies in the Sol system, although they both fared better than Earth.[8] Many habitats on the moon survived the Covenant assault relatively intact.[9]
