Spartan Points (SP) are an in-game currency used for purchasing items in Halo 4, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and Halo Infinite. In all three games, Spartan Points are a purely in-game currency, and cannot be bought through real-world purchases.
Halo 4Edit
In Halo 4, Spartan Points are rewarded through advancing the game's progression system, with each level rewarding one SP. Players may use Spartan Points to purchase loadout items, including primary weapons, secondary weapons, grenades, support upgrades, and tactical packages. However, each item has an associated prerequisite rank requirement before they can be purchased. Skins for loadout weapons are unlockable through other means, such as the Specializations system, purchasing downloadable content, and pre-ordering the game at various retailers. In Halo: The Master Chief Collection, all loadout items are unlocked by default.
The prerequisite rank and cost of each item are listed here.
Halo: The Master Chief CollectionEdit
In Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Spartan Points (known as "Season Points" prior to the August 2022 update)[1] are the in-game currency introduced with the Season system in December of 2019. They can be used within the various unlock tiers of each series to unlock armor permutations, skins, nameplates, Firefight characters and voices, and more.
Initially, Spartan Points could only be earned by progressing in the game's progression system through regular multiplayer, with one Spartan Point rewarded to players for progressing through a rank. Furthermore, from Series 1 to Series 9, this progression halted once the player hit 100 Spartan Points.[2] The addition of Challenges during Series 2 resulted in a wider array of Spartan Point earning potential across multiplayer, campaign, Firefight, Forge and custom games.
Spartan Points do not reset between the release of each season, so any points earned in previous seasons carry over into subsequent seasons. Spartan Points are also used for purchasing items from The Exchange. With the August update in 2022, retroactive season points were given out to players who made it past the original 100 point limit the progression system had, with one point given for each rank passed. Further ranks reached will also continues to provide one Spartan Point.
For a list of items purchasable with Spartan Points, see the respective Series pages and The Exchange.
Halo InfiniteEdit
In Halo Infinite, Spartan Points were reintroduced with the release of Banished Honor. Acting similarly to The Master Chief Collection, Spartan Points are able to be earned through Operations and daily and weekly challenges. Unlike the Collection, Spartan Points in Infinite are earned in increments of 100 to 1,000, with items ranging anywhere in price from 500 to 30,000.
Spartan Points can be spent exclusively through Infinite's version of the Exchange, which offers items from older events that have expired, as well as new items that are usually tied in thematically with the currently running Operation. Spartan Points never expire and also aren't limited, with the player being able to indefinitely earn however many points they desire.
