The Meluth'qelos-pattern fireblade, more commonly known as the energy sword, is a Covenant melee weapon manufactured by Merchants of Qikost.[1]
Overview
Design details

The Meluth'qelos-pattern fireblade is one of the many energy sword variants manufactured by the Covenant and inherited by the Banished.[1]
Usage
The Meluth'qelos-pattern fireblade is a weapon carried by high-ranking Sangheili in the Banished; during the Battle for Zeta Halo, it saw extensive use among Ultras, Warlords, Sangheili Special Operations Officers, and Honor Guards.[5] It is one of the more common designs adopted by the Banished.[1]
Variants
- Bloodblade: As with many other patterns of energy swords, the Meluth'qelos-pattern energy sword can be customized as a bloodblade, with red-colored plasma.[7] Jega 'Rdomnai carried one as his personal energy sword.[8]
- Duelist Energy Sword: A cobalt-colored Meluth'qelos-pattern energy sword with a white hilt and a lightweight frame, granting the user increased movement speed.[9] It was used by Okro 'Vagaduun during the Battle for Zeta Halo.[5]

Meluth'qelos-pattern energy swords are used by Covenant Sangheili against humanity.
During the Fall of Reach, John-117 attempted to duel Arbiter Var 'Gatanai with Meluth'qelos-pattern energy swords, but they were interupted by another Sangheili who shot John instead.[10]
During the Battle of Installation 04, John recovered an Meluth'qelos-pattern energy sword from the wreckage of Var 'Gatanai's ship and used it to engage the Arbiter in a vicious duel. After winning the fight, John killed Var with his own energy sword.[11]
