UNSC Supply Pad
From Halopedia, the Halo wiki
- "The base is up and running again. We need supply pads built, so I can send down materials."
- — Serina
Supply Pads are UNSC structures that form the backbone of a prefabricated Firebase unit, and are crucial to the smooth operation of any base.[1]
Overview
Supply pads take the form of landing pad structures that allow D82-EST Darters to land and deposit large crates of supplies. The pads are serviced by robotic cranes, which move the supply onto a conveyor belt, wherein it is lowered into the firebase's underground assembly and storage areas.[1] Supply Pads allow the firebase to receive a constant flow of supplies from orbiting support vessels such as UNSC Spirit of Fire. These are vital logistical ports for UNSC combat operations, and the force commander carefully weigh the cost of delaying their construction. To sustain high-tempo missions, Supply Pads can be upgraded to the Heavy Supply Pad, which accelerates Supply generation by adding a landing pad to double supply intake.[2]
The supplies handled by the UNSC's supply pad networks cover everything from medical kits to full-sized Warthog engines, food, ammunition, spare parts, and power cells.[2] The crew of a well run supply pad knows that a working pad means a working base.[1]
Operational history
Supply pads were heavily employed by the UNSC Spirit of Fire during its operations on Harvest, Arcadia, and the Etran Harborage.[3] They were later employed on Installation 00. While some useful assets could be salvaged and tapped on the Ark's surface, the bulk of the UNSC's supplies still had to be delivered from the Spirit of Fire. Sustaining combat operations on the Ark would be practically impossible without the use of supply pads to quickly unload cargo from dropships and the on-site direction of logisticians to efficiently redistribute the incoming matériel.[2]
In-game information
Halo Wars
- "The UNSC Supply Pad produces the resources needed to train units, building buildings, and buy technology upgrades. Bases that have great economic production might have 6 Supply Pads."
- — In-game information
In Halo Wars, the Supply Pad costs 100 to be built. It produces resources. They perform the same function as the Forerunner Supply Elevator, and the Covenant Warehouse. Sergeant Forge's Supply Pads start as Heavy Supply Pads, whereas other leaders must upgrade them for 225 resources.
