Template:Weapon Infobox The MA5K carbine is a firearm used almost exclusively by United Nations Space Command special operations forces, notably the Spartan-III supersoldiers. It is part of Misriah Armory's MA5 series.[1]
Overview
The MA5K is a shortened variant of the standard MA5 Individual Combat Weapon System. It is fully automatic and receives a thirty-round magazine of 7.62x51mm FMJ-AP ammunition.[1] The most conspicuous difference between the MA5K and other MA5 models is the replacement of the distinctive electronics housing with a carrying handle similar to that of the BR55 battle rifle. The handle probably integrates a digital ammunition counter like the BR55 and other MA5 models.
Trivia
- The 'K' in this weapon's designation follows the tradition of 20th and 21st German weapons including the letter in their designations. 'K' stands for kurz, German for short.
- The MA5K's design and production may have been inspired by the MA2B's due to its success and reliability.
- Though both different models, the MA5K and MA2B appear similar as both are shortened or cut down versions of the MA series, but are completely different, as the MA2B has a scope, and the MA5K does not as well as different carrying handles and barrel sizes.
