The KFA-2 x2[1] is a UNSC scope used on the M6B Handgun, M6D, M6F, M6G and M6H pistol sidearms of the M6 Series.[2]
Description
The KFA-2 x2 is a 2× magnification, smart-linked scope that relays visual data directly into the user's HUD. This stands in contrast to normal optical scopes such as the one featured on the BR55 Service Rifle, which requires the user to look into the scope, though the latter can also relay the visual data directly to the user's HUD. Infantry and other military personnel who do not wear a helmet with a visor or an eyepiece have this HUD interface overlaid over their normal sight via their Standard or Command Neural Interface.[citation needed]
Trivia
- Because of this sight, Robert McLees commented that Halo: Combat Evolved players used the M6D more of a semi-auto rifle than a handgun. This led to the M6C replacing the M6D in Halo 2.[3] Even though the scope is featured on the M6G2 Magnum[4], although trying to aim leads to zooming in. because Bungie decided that doing so will cause the pistol to behave more like a rifle with the scope[citation needed].
- The M6C/SOCOM featured in Halo 3: ODST uses a similar smart-linked scope, the VnSLS/V 6E, which has a 4× zoom, rather than 2× as with the KFA-2.
- The scope may originally have been intended to be a laser aiming module. When using third-party tools to import the pistol's first-person model tag into a 3D editor, a marker named "#laser" appears in front of the scope.
