Template:New Content Template:Weapon Infobox The BR85 Heavy Barrel Service Rifle (BR85HB SR)[1][2] is a semi-automatic service rifle employed by UNSC forces in the post-Human-Covenant War era.

Overview

Design

The BR85HB Service Rifle is a gas-operated, magazine-fed semi-automatic rifle.[1] It is optimized for three-round bursts, and proves to be effective against the energy shielding of many types of armor.

Gameplay

The BR85HB SR has a 2x scope. The weapon features hitscan, and lacks bloom. When fired, the barrel rises vertically, but in a suppressible way. It is useful for longer-range engagements.[1]

Trivia

  • The current in-game model of the BR85 is erroneously labeled "BR55HB SR".[3] This is likely a development placeholder that will be updated in the final build of the game.
  • Development footage shows that the player can carry 252 rounds of reserve ammunition for the BR85. In Halo 2 and Halo 3, the player can carry only 108 rounds in reserve for the battle rifle.
