==In Our Defense==
I've resurected this page to gear up for our next attempt.  You can read the [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Halopedia (second nomination)|Deleted argument here]].  While there were enough KEEP votes the page was still deleted by the Wikipedia Admin, [[Wikipedia:User:Yomangani|Yomangani]].  The official reason being:

We need to work out our arguement to defend against deletion. Also, when we do post we need to have some reasons prepared for the talk page like the following:
:''"there are no reliable sources mentioned in the article with the site as the subject and none have been provided during the course of the AfD. The fact that other similar sites have articles is not a basis for the inclusion of this one. If reliable sources can be provided there is no reason why this article can not be recreated, but as it stands it fails [[wikipedia:WP:WEB|WP:WEB]]."''

*'''Delete'''-- Per Guy's statement "wikipedia is not a listing for fan wikis".  -- SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
[[w:User:Angela|Angela]] recomends that we don't appeal as:
:One could also say that Wikipedia is not a listing of university professors, musical groups, city streets, etc., etc.: but the Wikipedia community has developed formal and informal rules which determine which profs, bands, streets, and fan wikis get Wikipedia articles. So, articles on Halopedia, [[Wikipedia:Memory Alpha|Memory Alpha]], and [[Wikipedia:Comixpedia|Comixpedia]] are kept, while others are deleted. — SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
*'''Keep''' Uh...don't think so. Halopedia has been around a while, and I don't consider it spam. -- SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
* '''Strong Keep''' Halopedia is a very large database of Halo articles frequented by a great deal of people. It has a very impressive alexa rating. -- SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
* '''Strong keep'''. Not spam, and one of Wikia's biggest wikis.-- SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

(I'm putting this under a header to seperate it from the list.) It should be noted that Wikipedia does not care about number of votes, so much as arguements. Getting a forum to come and post a bunch of "'''Keep''' Halopedia is awesome!" will not help. --[[User:Dragonclaws|Dragonclaws]] 17:55, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
:Yeah I understand, it was more my intent that we should create good arguements for a '''Keep''' rather than more Keep votes. -- [[User:Esemono|Esemono]] 00:32, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

==Article==
==Try Again==
The article seems too much like an ad to the Wikipedia editor part of me. Compare it to the [[Wikipedia:Memory Alpha|Memory Alpha]] article. Well written and sourced is what we should aim for. It shouldn't have our directory, and I don't think the Summary header is used there. Is that infobox standard? --[[User:Dragonclaws|Dragonclaws]] 17:51, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
:This is why I created it, get input make it better!  Make any changes you think are necessary.  I only added the summary so the TOC wouldn't mess up the page and yes the Infobox is a Wikipedia template. -- [[User:Esemono|Esemono]] 00:32, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
::I think it's doing pretty well. FYI, you can add <nowiki>__TOC__</nowiki> to a certain place to make the table of contents appear there. --[[User:Dragonclaws|Dragonclaws]] 06:47, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

==Well...==
So the sticking point is 'reliable" media sources that mention Halopedia as the subjet of an article.  Once we have that then we can try againHowever there were alot of good arguements presented that I'm going to keep on this page:
We've reached 1000 articles. Does anyone not think the page is ready? --[[User:Dragonclaws|Dragonclaws]] 04:01, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
:We have launch, check it out!  If we don't get aFD'd right away we'll have to add ourselves to the Halo template. -- [[User:Esemono|Esemono]] 04:22, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
::Coolness! Although, if HBO isn't there, I don't think we should be. --[[User:Dragonclaws|Dragonclaws]] 05:35, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
::[[Wikipedia:Halo.Bungie.Org]] has an article but not as nice as oursBut you could fix it up for them-- [[User:Esemono|Esemono]] 05:50, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

==Delete?==
Now that we have the article up should we delete this Halopedia article and get it to redirect to the Main page again? -- [[User:Esemono|Esemono]] 04:22, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
*'''Keep''' Halopedia is the biggest information database for the Halo Universe just like [[Wikipedia:Wookiepedia]] is the biggest information database for Star Wars.  Also this reference is needed on Halopedia so people know where to put Halo articles that aren't notable enough to stand on their own in Wikipedia.  Much in the same way that [[Wikipedia:Memory Alpha]] exists so that people can move obsure Star Trek articles that get aFD on Wikipedia. -- [[User:Esemono|Esmono]] 06:19, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

*'''Keep''' Simply put, the Halo games have a large following. The fanbase is not necessarily larger than Star Trek or Star Wars, but there is enough interest in the site that it recieves 1000-2000 unique visitors a day. There have been 40,000 visitors from the USA, and significant numbers of visitors from 25 other countries. ([http://extremetracking.com/open;geo?login=88888878 Stats]) Also, the site is more active than some smaller sites which have their own articles here on Wikipedia, such as [[Wikipedia:PlasticsWiki]] or [[Wikipedia:TikiWiki]] ([http://www.wikia.com/wikistats/EN/Sitemap.htm Chart]). In fact it has stayed in the top 25 most active wiki sites on wikia.com since it transfered to that format. To me, these statistics conform to the notability policy at Wikipedia. -[[Wikipedia:User:Ed!|Ed!]] 01:12, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
:*Those stats seem too low. I don't think you're accounting for page caching. Google reports 20000 impressions per day, and that's usually a underestimate of about 33%. [[User:Angela|Angela]][[user talk:Angela|.]] 10:42, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

*'''Keep'''. Meets the criteria of [[Wikipedia:WP:WEB]] since it's been mentioned in various news sites (which are linked from the article). At least 20,000 [[Wikipedia:Page impression|impressions]] a day and 26000 Google hits. (disclaimer: [[Wikia]] now hosts this site). Read about the attempt Number 2 to get a Wikipedia Page

I've resurected this page to gear up for our next attempt. You can read the Deleted argument here. While there were enough KEEP votes the page was still deleted by the Wikipedia Admin, Yomangani. The official reason being:

"there are no reliable sources mentioned in the article with the site as the subject and none have been provided during the course of the AfD. The fact that other similar sites have articles is not a basis for the inclusion of this one. If reliable sources can be provided there is no reason why this article can not be recreated, but as it stands it fails WP:WEB."

Angela recomends that we don't appeal as:

I suggest you not make that argument there since there are a lot of anti-voters who will take this as a sign Halopedia should never have an article (often arguing one thing will get you the opposite on Wikipedia). What Wikipedia is not explains that Wikipedia is not a democracy. Angela talk 17:09, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Try Again

So the sticking point is 'reliable" media sources that mention Halopedia as the subjet of an article. Once we have that then we can try again. However there were alot of good arguements presented that I'm going to keep on this page:

  • Keep Halopedia is the biggest information database for the Halo Universe just like Wikipedia:Wookiepedia is the biggest information database for Star Wars. Also this reference is needed on Halopedia so people know where to put Halo articles that aren't notable enough to stand on their own in Wikipedia. Much in the same way that Wikipedia:Memory Alpha exists so that people can move obsure Star Trek articles that get aFD on Wikipedia. -- Esmono 06:19, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Isn't there some gaming WikiProject that can link to this as a depository of Halocruft? I believe there is, but either way, this simply doesn't have the coverage that those other two have. GassyGuy 00:26, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
  • Halopedia is the biggest Halo information database almost as big as Wikipedia:Comixpedia in the amount of articles it has. --Esemono 12:31, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
