This is just an example page of what we should put in Wikipedia and other Wikis once we've reached 1000 articles.
In Our Defense[edit]
We need to work out our arguement to defend against deletion. Also, when we do post we need to have some reasons prepared for the talk page like the following:
- Delete-- Per Guy's statement "wikipedia is not a listing for fan wikis". -- SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- One could also say that Wikipedia is not a listing of university professors, musical groups, city streets, etc., etc.: but the Wikipedia community has developed formal and informal rules which determine which profs, bands, streets, and fan wikis get Wikipedia articles. So, articles on Halopedia, Memory Alpha, and Comixpedia are kept, while others are deleted. — SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Keep Uh...don't think so. Halopedia has been around a while, and I don't consider it spam. -- SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Strong Keep Halopedia is a very large database of Halo articles frequented by a great deal of people. It has a very impressive alexa rating. -- SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Strong keep. Not spam, and one of Wikia's biggest wikis.-- SomeGuy 14:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Response[edit]
(I'm putting this under a header to seperate it from the list.) It should be noted that Wikipedia does not care about number of votes, so much as arguements. Getting a forum to come and post a bunch of "Keep Halopedia is awesome!" will not help. --Dragonclaws 17:55, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah I understand, it was more my intent that we should create good arguements for a Keep rather than more Keep votes. -- Esemono 00:32, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not speaking to anyone specifically, I'm just putting the message here so it doesn't happen. --Dragonclaws 03:20, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
Article[edit]
The article seems too much like an ad to the Wikipedia editor part of me. Compare it to the Memory Alpha article. Well written and sourced is what we should aim for. It shouldn't have our directory, and I don't think the Summary header is used there. Is that infobox standard? --Dragonclaws 17:51, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- This is why I created it, get input make it better! Make any changes you think are necessary. I only added the summary so the TOC wouldn't mess up the page and yes the Infobox is a Wikipedia template. -- Esemono 00:32, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- I think it's doing pretty well. FYI, you can add __TOC__ to a certain place to make the table of contents appear there. --Dragonclaws 06:47, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
Well...[edit]
We've reached 1000 articles. Does anyone not think the page is ready? --Dragonclaws 04:01, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- We have launch, check it out! If we don't get aFD'd right away we'll have to add ourselves to the Halo template. -- Esemono 04:22, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- Coolness! Although, if HBO isn't there, I don't think we should be. --Dragonclaws 05:35, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Halo.Bungie.Org has an article but not as nice as ours. But you could fix it up for them. -- Esemono 05:50, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Delete this article on Halopedia?[edit]
Now that we have the article up should we delete this Halopedia article and get it to redirect to the Main page again? -- Esemono 04:22, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- Redirect - Sounds good. --Dragonclaws 05:36, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Play by Play of the aFD procedure[edit]
ReLaunch[edit]
- The Wikipedia Article, Halopedia has been launched ... or relaunched. Hopefully with everyones help we can avoid being deleted! --Esemono 04:27, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
You've got to Fight[edit]
- And it is back up for deletion. --Dragonclaws 21:33, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- That's one of the main reasons I'm not a big contributor to wikipedia. Their concept of "notability" is a joke, especially when there is unlimited space for information on the site. -ED 23:03, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- That's stupid. Halopedia deserves an article. --ToxicshocK 23:39, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Argue here if you feel Halopedia is notable enough to have it's own page. -- 23:19, 17 October 2006 (PDT)
- I can't ask, as my IP is blocked there! But I would say KEEP--ah2190 07:41, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- I have voted in favor of allowing the article there! What the hell is "notability"? --JohnSpartan117 01:56, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- Notability is another way of saying universal recogintion. i.e. A subject on Wikipedia is "notable" if everyone knows about it.
- I say that Halopedia is pretty damn notable! It was featured on Bungie.net! --JohnSpartan117 06:08, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Defeat[edit]
- And it has been deleted... "there are no reliable sources mentioned in the article with the site as the subject and none have been provided during the course of the AfD. The fact that other similar sites have articles is not a basis for the inclusion of this one. If reliable sources can be provided there is no reason why this article can not be recreated, but as it stands it fails WP:WEB." --Dragonclaws 03:35, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thats the biggest load of BS I have ever heard, what happened to democracy?! We outnumbered them!--JohnSpartan117 04:29, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- As far as I can tell the new admin who deleted it doesn't care about consensus and deletes what he feels like deleting[1].
- I hate DRV too much to take it there, but it's clear the deletion went against both policy and consensus. Angela talk 04:37, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- Oh my god, a Wikia Staff Member. Not only that! The Freaking co-founder!--JohnSpartan117 06:08, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thats very unfair as we had the majority of the vote's damn dictators, i will take my revenge --Climax Viod 10:54, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- How did that person get to be an Admin ???? --Climax Viod 10:55, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- It's not really about voting, it's meant to be about consensus. I suggest you not make that argument there since there are a lot of anti-voters who will take this as a sign Halopedia should never have an article (often arguing one thing will get you the opposite on Wikipedia). What Wikipedia is not explains that Wikipedia is not a democracy. Angela talk 17:09, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
- Wow, just came upon this argument. I read the record on Wikipedia's site. I agree with almost everything that has been said here. But my question is, can we find information that discredits the neutrality of the Admin in question or something to that effect? -- TheObviousOne 22:35, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
