A baffler was a Forerunner-designed camouflage technique employing geometric distortions. A baffler was used to hide the center of Djamonkin Crater, which housed the Didact's Cryptum during his first exile.[1] Despite being considered outdated at the time,[2] the device was demonstrated to be effective enough to hide the area from a Miner ship and an entire Forerunner fleet.[3][4] 100,000 years later, the Office of Naval Intelligence integrated the baffler technology in their Prowlers to enhance the vessels' stealth capabilities.[5] Baffler technology was also replicated in the FOTUS-class Mjolnir.[6]
