== Halo 4 Coop Characters? ==
<center>''Check the [[Halopedia talk:Community/QA/Archive|archive of older questions]] to see if your question has already been answered!''</center>

In Halo: Combat Evolved there were two identical Master Chiefs. In Halo 3 There were multiple characters consisting of the Chief, The Arbiter, and two Covenant Seperatists. Halo Reach introduced us to custom coop characters. But what about Halo 4? There may just be identical John-117's, who knows, i don't which is why I am asking, anyone have any ideas?--~~{{Unsigned|GMASTER}}

== Halo 4 Armor Customizations? ==
I would like to know if energy shields block lasers. If they do, I would like to know why the UNSC didn't switch to lasers in order to bypass shields. == Halo 4 War Games Gameplay Canon? ==
The other related questions are nice to know but I really want to know if lasers pass through active shields. Those ONI stealth ships likely have weak lasers that don't compare to covenant ones, or not enough of them to go after them. An ODP with lasers instead of MAC cannons, forget about it. Oh sorry, I was talking to ONI.--[[User:Lian 512|Lian 512]] ([[User talk:Lian 512|talk]]) 10:16, 19 March 2013 (EDT)

As you all may realize, War Games is the new name of what we players will know as Competitive Multiplayer for Halo 4. It is described as pinning players against one another in a simulated fighting experience within the UNSC Infinty. Apparently, this is the area in halo canon where actual Spartan-IV supersoldiers would fight within for training. What I'm wondering about is that when Spartan-IV's would fight with one another, we as players would see actual spartans killing one another. But for the "real" troopers, would this be more similar to virtual reality warfare, paintball, laser tag, etc. Especially since we know that "actual" troops would not fight for survival. Post your thoughts on what you think actual War Games simulations would feel like.{{Unsigned|GMASTER}}
In gameplay at least energy weapons deal more damage to sheilds than ballistics. Might be gamplay/story segregation, but it also may be canon. Always use the DMR. :First, sign your comments! Second, the spartans actually dying may be for "gameplay" purposes just like how the ARC-920 recoils after being fired even though its a "Recoiless" carbine. == John-117 in cryo AND at the Circumference at the same time? ==
I'm guessing no one wrote anything about the fact that unless shields are opaque so you can't see in or out of them, light can go through. Not to be rude, (I did get nice points of view) I found answers to everything else so if you don't really want to, I only am interested in its capabilities to penetrate shields without impediment. Ive played Halo Reach and recently ive read the book Halo: The fall of Reach.
I'm no expert by any sense of the word, but I'm thinking that if a laser is concentrated enough, it could be blocked by something that light would be small enough to pass through.
What confuses me is the following.

In the book, the Masterchief was assigned to destroy the Circumference allong with Linda and James.
Could it work like that? Halo 4 is peaking at 20k players, I find this hilarious. '''This is''' [[User:CraZboy557|<span style="color:orange; font-family: Gill Sans Ultra Bold; font-size: 105%;">'''craZboy557'''</span>]], '''signing off.''' 13:48, 1 May 2013 (EDT)
After this they immediatly returned back to the ship.
Also the Pillar of Autumm remained in space and did not land on Reach, it couldnt because they where drawn from Operation: Red Flag and by the time they got back to Reach, the Covenant was all over the planet, making landing impossible.

While in the game as Noble Six, you need to bring AI Cortana to the Pillar of Autumm (which is obviously landed in the shipyard) and in the cutscene, you can see John inside a cryotube.
== Covenant war reasons ==
According to the book, the cruiser never landed on Reach and neither did John enter a cryotube before they made a slip-space jump to installation 04.

:Actually, they mention it in [[Halo: Contact Harvest]].
:It turned out that one of the foundations of their religion was based upon a misinterpretation of a certain Forerunner glyph. Using a device called a [[Luminary]], they had come across a planet that was apparently LITTERED with Forerunner artifacts, to a degree that they had never before encountered. They reported back to [[High Charity]] where the local Oracle (now known to be none other than a surviving fragment of [[Mendicant Bias]]) was consulted as to the significance of the finding. While this was going on, 2 or 3 high ranking San 'Shyuum plotted to use the existence of these artifacts to stage a regime change within the government, with themselves at its head. When questioned about the artifacts, Mendicant Bias explained that their interpretation of the symbol (ie: Reclamation) was wrong, & should have been read as [[Reclaimer]], pointing out that the Luminary was actually revealing the presence of the Human population of Harvest. The revelation that Humanity was meant to inherit all that the Forerunners left behind (indeed that they might, themselves, BE Forerunner) would have invalidated the very core of the Covenant religion & simultaneously destroyed the very basis of this ambitious trio of San 'Shyuum Ministers' political power. Taking advantage of the internal chaos caused by this revelation within the San 'Shyuum Hierarchy, the 3 of them successfully launched their coup, installed themselves as the High Prophets (Regret, Truth & Mercy) and waged a war of genocide against Humanity in order to keep the truth buried. - [[User:DJenser|DJenser]] ([[User talk:DJenser|talk]]) 15:19, 1 May 2013 (EDT)

::The time elapsed between the mission to ''Gamma Station'' and the ''Pillar of Autumn''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s departure was retconned. Rather than fleeing the system after retrieving the survivors from ''Gamma Station'' at 0647 hours, Keyes had the ship touch down in Aszod to recover Cortana's data. Though the Covenant had compromised most of the planet, Aszod was still secure. The ''Autumn'' remained in dry dock until around 1720 hours; when Noble Six delivered the fragment, the ''Autumn'' lifted off. Cortana, having subsumed the fragment Halsey sent, set a course for Installation 04 using both the data from the Sigma Octanus IV artifact and the Visegrád excavation. John's appearance is a non-canon Easter egg. The book ''is'' complete and the game ''is'' correct; all the apparent discrepancies have been reconciled in the 2010 version of ''The Fall of Reach'' and in the [[Data Drop]]. --[[User talk:Braidenvl|Courage never dies.]] 17:50, 14 October 2012 (EDT)

That seems pretty genocidal, actually, letting your own species go extinct like that. Honestly I've wondered this myself, and figured things like "they left to a different galaxy", "on other planets that humanity hasn't encountered yet", "they're still in stasis in the shield worlds and have yet to be reawakened" or "their numbers were too diminished to let them survive". A fifth, more fanony theory of mine is "they engineered a flood cure and immunized as many as they could, only that cure to turn out be false and actually be covertly infecting them." I think the third one is most likely, and intriguing. Just something I noticed. There are several Longswords that appear in the beginning of issue 4 but seem to disappear later towards the climax of the comic. In fact when the crew is going over the debris there is no mention of Longswords at all. To make it a lil more confusing, I did a once-over of the Spirit of Fire and the ship never carried Longswords. So I have questions: Where did those Longswords come from? Rumor has it that they moved to another galaxy, from a few pages I've spotted. Unsure where the source for that is. ::I won't dare make that edit. Agreed though, like magic those ships just vanished right after the Pilgrims Pride was shoved out the ''Infinity''. They were retreating, yet they had nowhere to go. We know the Longsword is rated for space travel but not the Vulture nor Sparrowhawk. Suicide pilots? Of course if they were remote controlled than maybe but then why would a remote controlled vehicle need to retreat? And even then the ''Infinity'''s defenses would've destroyed anything trying to run. Nonetheless, that's the main reason why I was so confused by those scenes. Honestly, the panels in the front should have been placed right when the battle started rather than 74 hours after. Seemed unnecessary since that whole battle last but a second.  Also not much art was placed on the air battle, it merely resembled background battles like in Halo 3 & Reach, totally opposite from what is shown on the cover. Would the Sangheili, Unggoy, and Lekgolo rebels on High Charity be considered a separate faction (those seen on the Gravemind level)? I really like what you've guys done with the factions updates (i.e Thel Vadam's Covenant Prehistoric Human Civilization, etc.) and I was wondering if the rebels (Sangheili, Unggoy, and Lekgolo)on High Charity (Halo 2, Gravemind level)during initial break of the Great Schism would be considered their own faction? Since they were lead to believe the Arbiter was killed and the Councilors missing/killed and lacked a specific leadership either be an individual or group, it would be similar to Xytan's alliance, although like the Joyous Exultation Alliance this faction did not last either. {{Unsigned|96.244.99.79}}

Incorrect did you know[edit]

A did you know (the one on every page) said that the ghost is the only covenant vehicle usable in every game in the series. I own Halos: Wars, Reach, CE, 2, 3, 3 ODST, and 4 and at the very least the banshee is usable in ALL of them. DMR= Wins--Lian 512 (talk) 23:08, 9 March 2013 (EST)

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll remove it from the DYK page (If I can find it amongst all those DYKs).--Spartacus TalkContribs 23:17, 9 March 2013 (EST)

Energy Shielding Weakness[edit]

I would like to know if energy shields block lasers. If they do, I would like to know why the UNSC didn't switch to lasers in order to bypass shields. They are transparent-translucent, so light should get through along with lasers, that are made of light, right??? (I mean outside of games, where the splaser has to down shields due to programming.)--Lian 512 (talk) 11:42, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

Lasers are expensive. The Spartan Laser was said to cost as much as six Warthogs. Tuckerscreator(stalk) 13:33, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

I guess that answers part of the question. Are other space weapons expensive? The big question is do they curcmvent shields to damage covenant ship's hulls?--Lian 512 (talk) 23:17, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

The other related questions are nice to know but I really want to know if lasers pass through active shields. Those ONI stealth ships likely have weak lasers that don't compare to covenant ones, or not enough of them to go after them. An ODP with lasers instead of MAC cannons, forget about it. Oh sorry, I was talking to ONI.--Lian 512 (talk) 10:16, 19 March 2013 (EDT)

In gameplay at least energy weapons deal more damage to sheilds than ballistics. Might be gamplay/story segregation, but it also may be canon. Always use the DMR. This is craZboy557, signing off. 10:30, 19 March 2013 (EDT)

Why doesn't the minor edit button work?--Lian 512 (talk) 11:59, 19 March 2013 (EDT)

I'm no expert by any sense of the word, but I'm thinking that if a laser is concentrated enough, it could be blocked by something that light would be small enough to pass through.

Could it work like that? Halo 4 is peaking at 20k players, I find this hilarious. This is craZboy557, signing off. 13:48, 1 May 2013 (EDT)

Covenant war reasons[edit]

Do they ever specifiy why the covenant are at war with humanity in the trilogy? Oh, huh, that makes a new section.... welp, yeah, what the title say. Halo 4 is peaking at 20k players, I find this hilarious. This is craZboy557, signing off. 13:39, 1 May 2013 (EDT)

Actually, they mention it in Halo: Contact Harvest.
It turned out that one of the foundations of their religion was based upon a misinterpretation of a certain Forerunner glyph. Using a device called a Luminary, they had come across a planet that was apparently LITTERED with Forerunner artifacts, to a degree that they had never before encountered. They reported back to High Charity where the local Oracle (now known to be none other than a surviving fragment of Mendicant Bias) was consulted as to the significance of the finding. While this was going on, 2 or 3 high ranking San 'Shyuum plotted to use the existence of these artifacts to stage a regime change within the government, with themselves at its head. When questioned about the artifacts, Mendicant Bias explained that their interpretation of the symbol (ie: Reclamation) was wrong, & should have been read as Reclaimer, pointing out that the Luminary was actually revealing the presence of the Human population of Harvest. - DJenser (talk) 15:19, 1 May 2013 (EDT)
No no, I know all that, I mean in the video game trilogy. Halo 4 is peaking at 20k players, I find this hilarious. This is craZboy557, signing off. 17:39, 1 May 2013 (EDT)
I think Regret briefly talked about it in Halo 2: "Most of those we encountered in our search were compelled to join our Union. To take part in moment of promise, Freedom for Allegiance, Salvation for Service! But some, like the Humans, chose to impede our progress. Block our access to sacred sites, damage Holy Relics! For their transgressions, the Humans shall be hunted until none remain alive!" (Regret, Halo 2) But we all know theres a different reason for the Covenant to eradicate the humans. —SPARTAN331 09:06, 2 May 2013 (EDT)

Hair length[edit]

Why do female troopers have hair long enough that it descends from their helmets? Yeah Bungie might've done it to distinguish them but they didn't do it for the Marines in 2, 3 and ODST. Any suggestions, like the Army having looser grooming standards? --Alpha (talk) 08:17, 23 August 2013 (EDT)Alpha

Here's the answer to you question.--Killamint [Comm|Files] 09:46, 23 August 2013 (EDT)
It could also just be artistic license. The producers may not have thought about any grooming standards when designing the female models.--Spartacus TalkContribs 11:08, 23 August 2013 (EDT)

Escalation: Issue 3 questions[edit]

  • The Shawdow can fly? I thought it was just a ground transport or was it modified for flight capability?
  • I noticed six caskets (1 without a UNSC flag drapped over it). Were fireteam Bailey, Jackknife's (including Scruggs), and DeMarco's bodies recovered?

--Killamint [Comm|Files] 12:47, 27 February 2014 (EST)

Since Scruggs basically publicly announced being a traitor I doubt he would be included in the memorial, but who knows. Col. Snipes450 12:54, 27 February 2014 (EST)
Well to be fair the Shadow was never said to not be able to fly. There's also the possibility that they were empty caskets.Sith-venator Wavingstrider Fett helmet.jpg (Commlink) 12:58, 27 February 2014 (EST)
True. Oh I just realized something, I was looking at the pages wrong and didn't do my math. There were 5 good spartans that died asside from DeMarco plus all the caskets have a flag drapped around them. The 2nd panel confused me. So that automatically excludes Scruggs. But why use empty caskets rather than something like the Voi Memorial.--Killamint [Comm|Files] 13:10, 27 February 2014 (EST)

HE Issue 4: Longswords[edit]

Just something I noticed. There are several Longswords that appear in the beginning of issue 4 but seem to disappear later towards the climax of the comic. In fact when the crew is going over the debris there is no mention of Longswords at all. To make it a lil more confusing, I did a once-over of the Spirit of Fire and the ship never carried Longswords. So I have questions: Where did those Longswords come from? Were they merely added just for the hell of it? Or did these "ex-UNSC" dudes steal/take them from somewhere else? Or do they actually belong to the Infinity?--Killamint [Comm|Files] 19:15, 27 March 2014 (EDT)

It seems like all the enemy ships just went poof before we could tell who was piloting them (assuming they weren't being controlled from afar). If I had to gamble I would say that the Longswords do belong to the Spirit of Fire. Adding Longswords to the SOF's complement would be a trivial issue at worst.Sith-venator Wavingstrider Fett helmet.jpg (Commlink) 01:09, 28 March 2014 (EDT)
I won't dare make that edit. Agreed though, like magic those ships just vanished right after the Pilgrims Pride was shoved out the Infinity. They were retreating, yet they had nowhere to go. We know the Longsword is rated for space travel but not the Vulture nor Sparrowhawk. Suicide pilots? Of course if they were remote controlled than maybe but then why would a remote controlled vehicle need to retreat? And even then the Infinity's defenses would've destroyed anything trying to run. Nonetheless, that's the main reason why I was so confused by those scenes. Honestly, the panels in the front should have been placed right when the battle started rather than 74 hours after. Seemed unnecessary since that whole battle last but a second. Also not much art was placed on the air battle, it merely resembled background battles like in Halo 3 & Reach, totally opposite from what is shown on the cover. Still it was an interesting scene.--Killamint [Comm|Files] 12:23, 28 March 2014 (EDT)
