Be part of Community Links?[edit]
How does a wiki become a part of the Community Links? (Like Halo Machinima Wiki per say) ~Jman98~ 19:23, 20 March 2012 (EDT)
- Guess it would be subjected to notability (i.e. at least one years old?). Somebody ought to create what makes a community website notable to be in the table. That aside, we could promote it as long as it stays active. — subtank 19:36, 20 March 2012 (EDT)
- I think there is one... but there hasn't been an increase activity on notable machinimas. However, seeing that the machinima wiki is seeing some activity and under a new management, I don't see why we can't reestablish the connection again and add it in the community weblinks.— subtank 07:16, 21 March 2012 (EDT)
Upload New Images: Where...?[edit]
I just noticed the Upload New Images link just got removed from the Main Page, and I don't see it anywhere here, like I would expect it to be. Can someone help? --Xamikaze330 20:18, 20 March 2012 (EDT)Xamikaze330
- It's still there under the Community tab. Alternatively, you can check for newly uploaded image in this page and you can upload some by referring to the navigation sidebar (beside Special Pages, underneath Preferences).— subtank 20:21, 20 March 2012 (EDT)
- Well, I still can't see it anywhere in the Community page itself, but I do see it in the sidebar, as you said. I don't know; I kinda feel like someone should add that somewhere, just in case someone gets confused like I was. By the way, just so that not just anyone could edit this community page, shouldn't it be protected to be edited only by administrators and patrollers? Just a thought. --Xamikaze330 20:29, 20 March 2012 (EDT)Xamikaze330
- Well, as per your previous comment on Talk:Main Page, I readded Special:NewFiles and the Upload New Images on the Main Page; this is located under the Community tab. But as for your comment on adding the page in this Community page... noted. This community page is still under construction, so it's best to allow anyone to correct any mistakes made.— subtank 20:33, 20 March 2012 (EDT)
- Okay. I guess I'll leave it at that then. Thanks. --Xamikaze330 21:16, 20 March 2012 (EDT)Xamikaze330

Automatic refresh feature[edit]
I was wondering: should we implement an Auto-refresh button on the Recent Changes page for easier patrol of recent article changes, rather than manually refreshing the page 24/7? In my opinion, it would make patrolling pages a lot easier for users. vadske@halopedia 21:56, 29 November 2012 (EST)
- Wouldn't be a bad idea in my opinion. Though, the guy to ask about this would be Steve.--Spartacus Talk • Contribs 22:01, 29 November 2012 (EST)
Timeline[edit]
Is there anyway we can incorporate thistimeline? I saw it on Waypoint, and thought this would be great here. any thoughts?--Weeping Angel (talk) 19:26, 10 May 2013 (EDT)
Halo.fr[edit]
Halo.fr, a French fansite operating since the days of Halo 2 !
Not since Halo 2, but since December 2001 ! Is it possible to change ?
Oromisor (talk) 09:23, 13 August 2013 (EDT) // Partner WikiHalo
- Corrected.— subtank 09:43, 13 August 2013 (EDT)
It's possible to change the image of Hfr ? So even change the link "French Halopedia" to that of WikiHalo (www.wiki.halo.fr) ? Because the wiki currently presented is not active and the WikiHalo is a partner with you. -- Oromisor (talk) 15:15, 26 September 2014 (EDT) // Partner WikiHalo
- I'll change it. Thanks for the headsup.--Spartacus Talk • Contribs 17:19, 26 September 2014 (EDT)
- Thank you ! ;-) -- Oromisor (talk) 18:25, 26 September 2014 (EDT)
Haloring.org[edit]
I removed the link to haloring.org, as the URL now redirects to Halosphere.net, which is some Halo-themed MMORPG game. Any idea if the site still exists at a different URL?--Spartacus Talk • Contribs 16:21, 23 November 2013 (EST)
Community Link proposal[edit]
Hey guys.
I’ve been a member of the Halo canon-orientated Halo Archive forums for more than a year now, and since I joined the site I’ve been wondering whether it would be possible to have the site as a Community Link here, and whether the site fits the needed requirements. The site has seen tremendous growth over the past few months, although a month ago we changed domain to our new site (the old one can be found here), with the creation of active blog and twitter outlets and a steady influx of new members. We have an active set of 35 members, with a further 30 essences, and are relatively well-known on other sites like Waypoint and the Bungie universe forum.
I would be delighted if it could be done, but if not that's okay. We're still growing, so it may be a little while before we gain full notability. Thanks, regardless. —TentacleTornado 14:50, 8 April 2014 (EDT)
Wow. Thanks for posting that here. I have neither the authority to put it on the Main Page, nor the knowledge to help decide whether or not it should be there, but it I appreciate your bringing that to my attention. It looks like a very interesting site. --Weeping Angel (talk) 23:06, 8 April 2014 (EDT)
- For now, the requirement seems to be that the site must be sufficiently active. Added.— subtank 09:07, 9 April 2014 (EDT)
Update to the community section[edit]
I just went though the community section, and well I feel it really needs a huge update.
As sad as it is. Most of the foreign wikis are very outdated. With only German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish, being any good. Others havent been updated in over a month, and some have very little pages.
Though first thing to do would be to update it with whats in the side-bar. Makes us consistent.
Then I vote we take out any community that hasnt made an update in over 6 months(6 months is enough time in case the community took a break for a wee bit).
Then if you lot are up for it. We could either link this thread or add communities from it.(this is a big maybe, I know some like Halo Follower and Halo Nation are out the question at the moment)

Hopefully this is a few good ideas. --CIA391 (talk) 20:19, 12 March 2016 (EDT)
More Accessible Halo Timeline?[edit]
Hello everyone, I am Arcmind. I signed up for Halopedia a while back, but did not have any idea on how to edit on a wiki, so i went mostly dormant. However i have gained tons of experience helping on the regular wiki and so forth.
If you guys would allow me, i can create a more accessible Timeline for Halo. What i mean by that is, right now, (For Me Anyway) The Halopedia Timeline is a little hard to get at in the sense that if you want to see a particular date, you need to scroll through a list, and to go to the next date in the sequence, you have to scroll again. However what i am proposing, is that i create a large page complete with all of the dates, and their attached information. That way we can map out the entire universe. From there, we can classify the dates into eras, ans so forth. Well, what do you think? —This unsigned comment was made by Arcmind (talk • contribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
I think there is way too much to all be on single page, but it would help enormously to be able to click "next" or "previous". If I'm looking at the page for 2525, I should be able to click "next" and instantly be taken to the page for 2526. —This unsigned comment was made by Japeth555 (talk • contribs). Yes, but i would if i wrote the timeline in sections, it would be very manageable. Making things way easier on Fans....How about this, if i can create the page to the community's liking, in the sandbox, then might the admins at least consider making the transition? —This unsigned comment was made by Arcmind (talk • contribs). - The Halo universe page is kind of like that.Sith Venator (Dank Memes) 19:42, 21 July 2016 (EDT)
Oh, i see that page is similar, but i wanted to make page complete with all of the events in the halo universe. Basically taking the events in the timeline, and then just put them in a complete page instead of a chart. —This unsigned comment was made by Arcmind (talk • contribs). - So pretty much... moving all the timeline pages into one mega-page...
- Only time I seen that working is when its to help beginners get into the lore. Pretty much a smaller scale version of it. Like what the Halo Wars Community Site did. http://www.halowars.com/GameInfo/Timeline.aspx
- I never seen it work in a huge way. Only other list that has had any success in that way is my Halo Canon Order, granted I have had a lot of support with that. https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/forums/db05ce78845f4120b062c50816008e5d/topics/halo-canon-order-halo-3-and-before/23bec818-d9c5-4932-981b-61efe8532f61/posts
- So um sadly I am against this idea. Sorry friend. But if majority agrees with the idea. I will play along. Never been one to argue on something in this regard.-CIA391 (talk) 20:24, 21 July 2016 (EDT)
Your opinion is understandable. I am a huge halo fan, so the timeline is of no use to me, just thought i would create it for those who need it. Thanks for your input. :) —This unsigned comment was made by Arcmind (talk • contribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
I hate it when wikis do that, to me it seems lazy. Alertfiend - Warning, my comments may appear passive aggressive. (Converse) 21:23, 21 July 2016 (EDT)
Well, if there is a way we could get the timeline we have to scroll down easier, i would hope to try and get another one out for folks who might need the entire universe at their fingertips without having to click so much.
Timeline wip reset[edit]
- Main article: Halopedia:Sandbox
Well looking over the work in progress I see a few problems.
- 1: The source and notes list is very huge. Like it takes up nearly half of the page(well on mobile and small screens)... this is one reason why we keep to a more segmented timeline. Saves them becoming like uber huge. And easier to work with...
- 2: The info is already on the wiki. This is pretty much just repeating what the timeline does.
- 3: We even have other Alts that are similar, like the Halo Universe page. Or even pages dedicated to certain battles and events.
Um and thats that. Dunno what else to say. If anyone else wants to agree or disagree please say.-CIA391 (talk) 15:49, 31 July 2016 (EDT)
I get you, so then is there a way where we can make it easier to go through the timeline we already have? I mean i would really love it if that was possible, as scrolling through 0ver 300 entries to find the next date in the sequence can be extremely hard when conducting research etc. If there is something i can do in that regard, i am all ears. —This unsigned comment was made by Arcmind (talk • contribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
We just need an option for "Previous" and "Next". If I'm looking at the entry for 2527, I should be able to hit previous or next to take me to 2526 or 2528 respectively. It would also me nice if we could group the dates into specific eras in an infobox at the top or bottom of the page. -Japeth555
So, why can't we do it? I mean i am perfectly willing to do the revisions myself. I just need to know what to do, and the community's approval, and i am good to go. —This unsigned comment was made by Arcmind (talk • contribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
Please sign your posts. It is also much easier in its current form (Not your timeline) then what you are suggesting. Alertfiend - Warning, my comments may appear passive aggressive. (Converse) 20:40, 31 July 2016 (EDT)
Hhhh, I keep saying this, but i will say it again, if there is a way to improve the timeline we have now, then lets do it. Japeth already suggested what i wanted to do, so, my question now is, how can it be done?Arcmind (talk) 07:19, 1 August 2016 (EDT)
- Changes made to the Timeline template. To note, the eras (save for the Covenant Ages) are titles made up by fans and are not canon. So, there is no point grouping the dates into specific eras. — subtank 12:34, 2 August 2016 (EDT)
Dark Theme[edit]
Is it possible to create a slightly larger text size and a dark theme similar to that of the Halo Waypoint, Halo Archive or the parody called Halo Nation? It's easier to read on a darker background, especially at night and would help us attract people who prefer Halo Nation because it's easier to read. —This unsigned comment was made by The Master Builder (talk • contribs). Wasn't this already discussed? Alertfiend - Warning, my comments may appear passive aggressive. (Converse) 07:52, 1 August 2016 (EDT)
- It was discussed in the forum. Simply put, it's too much of maintenance work for such a small administrative team to handle. — subtank 12:19, 2 August 2016 (EDT)
Podcasts are fine[edit]
Just a note to say the podcasts are fine. I been monitoring them for a bit leading to be ensuring
- 1. They keep producing content(the most important thing)
- 2. They have an audience.
Just thought I should say.-CIA391 (talk) 19:01, 18 September 2016 (EDT)
