The Battle of Alpha Aurigae was a major battle in the early years of the Human-Covenant War. The human fleet, consisting of 117 ships under the command of Admiral Preston Cole,[1] engaged twelve Covenant warships, destroying the enemy force but losing a total of thirty-seven ships in the process.[2] It was one of the rare naval victories for the UNSC.

Trivia[edit]

The short story The Impossible Life and the Possible Death of Preston J. Cole clearly states that Cole had one hundred seventeen ships under his command, though Halo Wars: Genesis states he had 107. The number provided in the short story is an obvious reference to John-117.
