Wasals are a kind of small surveillance spacecraft used by the Covenant. They are generally used in the role of scouting and intelligence gathering, used for hunting enemy warships in multi-planetary star systems. They are ill-equipped for orbital surveillance and finding targets on a planetary surface, though can be used for such a task should dedicated craft be unavailable - albeit with limited effectiveness.[1]
During the battle of Netherop in mid-2526, Nizat 'Kvarosee's Flotilla of Unsung Piety had a number of Wasals in its service and used them in an attempt to hunt down the survivors of UNSC Night Watch following its crash-landing on the planet.[1]
