Kenya, officially the Republic of Kenya, is a country in Eastern Africa, Earth.[2] It is a part of the East African Protectorate.[1]
Kenya hosted one of Earth's Space elevators in the city of Mombasa.[3][4]
History
Ancient history
Circa 97,445 BCE, the Forerunners built a slipspace portal leading to Installation 00 outside of the Milky Way galaxy, in what would later become Kenya.[5][6] Around the same time, a human elder known as N'chala and his tribe lived nearby, observing the Portal's construction.[7]
Early history
In the 20th-century, the military base Crow's Nest was constructed in the country.[8]
Due to economic stability and location, Mombasa was chosen to host Earth's first space elevator and construction began in 2302. By 2430, nearly a 74km radius around the city became known as "Old Mombasa".[9]
Human-Covenant War

On October 20, 2552, the Covenant's Prophet of Regret attacked the city of Mombasa. UNSC In Amber Clad and numerous other UNSC forces attempted to stall the Covenant there.[3] In the end, the Prophet escaped by slipspace in the city causing damage and the eventual destruction of the space tether.[4]
