A wing is a military unit in use by the United Nations Space Command Air Force[1][2] and Swords of Sanghelios.[3]

Composition[edit]
A wing in the UNSC Air Force combines several aircraft squadrons with non-aircraft units to provide services, such as airbase operation and fuel refining. Wings are placed on garrison deployments; their counterparts for expeditionary deployments are groups.[1] In the case of the 22nd First Response Wing, the unit was garrisoned at Launchsite 2A, where several FSS-1000 Sabre launch pads serve as the first response unit of the local UNSC planetary defense.[2]

Composition[edit]
A Wing in the Swords of Sanghelios consists of several aircraft, notably in the case of Lar Wing, at least five D'nomlhe-pattern Banshee. Wings are often deployed together.[3][4]

Joint wings[edit]
Wings are utilised by joint-operating UNSC and Swords of Sanghelios forces, as part of the Anvil Initiative. Several such wings are stationed on ANVIL Station, with each boasting Air Force pilots, SPARTAN-IVs, and Sangheili pilots. Known wings, including Union and Harmony, typically operate in units of four strikecraft, such as Elsedda-pattern Banshees.[5][6]
