- "Tartarus' loyal lieutenants were also gifted a weapon worthy of such favor. Mythic Gravity Hammer that unleashes a linear series of kinetic explosions with each swing. Equipping Tartarus' Gavel also boosts movement speed, shield strength, and jump height."
- — In-game description[5]
Tartarus' Gavel is a special gravity hammer created by Tartarus.[1][6]
Overview[edit]
Design details[edit]
The Tartarus' Gavel is a named variant of the T-2 EW/H, fitted with various upgrades, including a linear series of kinetic explosions with each swing and boosts to its user's movement speed, energy shield strength, and jump height. It uses the T-2 EW/H's model but with various coloring changes, including a bright orange hammerhead decorated with black and white stripes, as well as bronze, silver, and orange accents with white wrappings.[5]
Service history[edit]
During his ascent to power within the Covenant, Tartarus used his relationship with the Prophets to reward loyal lieutenants with advanced weaponry secretly forged within the Sacred Promissory; one such hammer was the Tartarus' Gavel.[1]
In late 2558, Spartan-IVs serving aboard the UNSC Infinity trained with Tartarus' Gavel in War Games simulations.[6]
Gameplay[edit]
Halo 5: Guardians[edit]
The Tartarus' Gavel is a mythic weapon, appearing as a Level 7 Legendary Power Weapon REQ granting 200 REQ Points when sold. It operates exactly identically to a normal Gravity Hammer except that each swing of Tartarus' Gavel conjures a linear series of kinetic explosions that can be reflected off of walls and target multiple enemies at once, and the weapon's user is augmented with boosts to their energy shield strength, movement speed, jump height, and Ground Pound damage. Ideally, aiming at an opponent's feet is the best way to score ranged kills with the Tartarus' Gavel, as all of the explosions will reach their target. The kinetic explosions have a maximum range of 20.45 m (67.09 ft), while the weapon has lunge ranges of 4.86 m (15.94 ft) and 8.46 m (27.76 ft) in hipfire and Smart-Link mode, respectively.[7] In addition, the Tartarus' Gavel dominates against all other melee weapons in clashes.[7] These improvements make the Tartarus' Gavel an extremely powerful weapon that can take down almost everything on the ground, even Legendary or Mythic bosses. Users of Tartarus' Gavel also gain white highlights, making them more visible on the battlefield.[6]
Under normal conditions, a full shield, full health Spartan with the Tartarus' Gavel dies to 8 Battle Rifle bursts to the head (10 to the body), 3 Sniper Rifle shots, or one shot of the Twin Jewels of Maethrillian. Adding an Overshield makes a Tartarus' Gavel user even more resistant to damage, although they can still be instantly killed by being splattered.[6][7]
Changes from the Type-2 Energy Weapon/Hammer[edit]
- Spawns a linear series of kinetic explosions with each swing.
- Boosts the user's shield strength, movement speed, jump height, and Ground Pound damage.
- Can cancel out attacks from enemy Gravity Hammers and Energy Swords much more easily.
