This article is about the EMP-style grenade. For the traditional non-lethal grenade, see flashbang grenade.

The stun grenade is a type of grenade used by the United Nations Space Command. When detonated, they create a localised electromagnetic pulse which can immobilise nearby targets.[1]

Overview[edit]

Stun grenades are cylindrical grenades. Their effect when detonated is very similar to that of the stun blast armor ability, the dynamo grenade of the Banished, or the Covenant's power drain equipment.[1]

Usage[edit]

The grenade was utilized by Spartans during the Battle of Installation 03 and the Battle of New Phoenix.[1]

In-game information[edit]

Halo: Spartan Strike[edit]

The stun grenade was introduced in Halo: Spartan Strike as a functional replacement for the stun blast first featured in Spartan Assault. Where stun blast was an armor ability that affected allies and enemies alike, the grenades are limited in number and only affect enemies, immobilising them for around 4 seconds.

The grenade has the advantage that it does not require any cool down and recharge time between uses. The disadvantage is that unlike the armor ability that can be used an unlimited number of times, each grenade can only be used once. It also takes up one the player's valuable grenade slots. The stun grenade is particularly useful when surrounded by enemies, or when attempting to defend an area or asset from an onslaught of enemies.
